It’s time for a new post!

Hi, I’m Bonnie, the woman behind Bonnie May Weddings! I’ve been helping out with weddings for the past five years, including planning my own almost two years ago. I’ve been involved in over 40 weddings in some capacity during that time, so I’ve almost seen it all (read below for one of my crazy stories!).

Here’s five fun facts about me!

🌻When I’m not at weddings, rehearsals, or meeting with my couples, I love thrifting! I’m always down for garage sales or going to the thrift store (anyone want to join me? 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️)

🌻 the second picture contains three of my recent loves: the beach, the overalls from , and my recent haircut

🌻 I will choose a beer over wine almost every time

🌻 I love going on long walks outside and have actually hiked the camino twice!

🌻 One of my craziest wedding stories is I had a table literally catch on fire 😱 Thankfully, the reception had just ended so there were no guests around, and we were able to catch it before it got bigger! To this day, we still don’t know how that happened (no one was around!).

Just got a review back from one of my brides and I’m as happy as these two are! (Well, I’m close… they were super happy! 😂)

“When I first began planning, I didn't intend to hire a day of coordinator because I thought I would be able to run things on my own. I quickly realized how much of a disaster that would be. With Bonnie coordinating the day of and running everything, I was so relaxed. I wasn't worried about anything on my wedding day, and I was able to be really present for every moment of my wedding and focus on my husband!”

Love, love, love that I’m able to create a stress free environment for my couples!

What is love? This is a question that surrounds us and influences our society, whether or not we want it to. How do we have healthy relationships? What does a good friendship look like? When will I know what vocation I'm being called to?

These questions (and so many more) pervade our very being. We search for the answers and society is more than willing to throw us answers that bring us short term happiness through the hook-up culture and friends with benefits (among others).

However, these are not answers. These types of relationships will not provide long lasting joy. We can only find this joy through a deep and meaningful relationship with Christ. Only then will things start to make sense. There might not be all the answers immediately, but we can receive peace through trust in God that the answers will come.

I’m so excited to host a discussion about this topic tonight about relationships! Our topic is “Rom Coms in Real Life: A Conversation About the Importance of Healthy Relationships, Healing from Unhealthy Ones, and Knowing the Difference”. We’re going to cover everything from previous breakups to our current relationship statuses!

Want to enjoy a Valentines Date without worrying about wedding planning? Here are three tips to keep in mind!

1) Have a wedding planning date a few days beforehand to get some items knocked out, for the psychological benefit of already having been productive before your Valentine's date

2) On the day of your date, pick one smaller thing to cross off your wedding planning list before going on your date, for the same reason

3) Be intentional about relaxing and enjoying your date outside the context of wedding planning!

Remember that wedding planning is just preparation for a single (albeit very important) day and that you are still prepping for a marriage that will last forever. It is very important to be able to still have stress-free dates with your significant other without them turning into just a wedding planning session!

“All I want is chaos” - The Groom in reference to the flower girls and ring bearers.

And chaos is what he got with his 25(!) nieces and nephews all parading down the middle of the aisle. It was a sight to behold and made everyone laugh (and made the bride and groom waayyy less nervous).

This was definitely the most I’ve ever seen or helped corral… (I mean coordinate!) going down the aisle. Don’t be afraid to have as many (or as few!) as you’d like! Just check with the church first to see if there’s restrictions 😅

Get a dress you feel like you can conquer the world in but are still comfortable enough to run barefoot across a field (if that’s your thing 😉)

Don’t get the dress that…
- someone else LOVES but you only sort of like
- you are buying just because it’s trendy
- you love but are uncomfortable in it just trying it on

Not sure about a dress? Don’t be afraid to sleep on it and retry it a different day!

You want a dress that you feel beautiful in. Sometimes that means the first one you try on. Sometimes it means a 10th visit to yet another bridal store (that was me, folks!). What works for someone else might not be the best for you and that’s okay!
