Someone come pick me up off the floor because I AM MELTING 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 Lily and Alex’s entire wedding weekend was an absolute dream ✨

From their laid back welcome party at the Daniel Island Yacht Club , A derby style rehearsal dinner at The William Aiken house and the big finale at Lowndes Grove - there was not a single detail lost and the weather was one of the biggest stars of the show - except for the bride and groom of course!

Lily Tendler Skolds + Alex Skolds you two are simply some of the kindest people I’ve had the pleasure of documenting, and your families are just wonderful. The biggest congratulations to you all. The love in the room was truly felt all weekend long 💜

Some dreams are more vivid that others - but I can confirm that I’ve had these dreams over and over many times.

Leading up to your wedding, these are the things I do :

✨I check 1,016 times that all my batteries are charged at least 2 days before your wedding. 😂
✨I have 12 extra memory cards ready to go on your wedding day. And before I start photographing, I make sure that all my memory card slots are filled in my cameras - probably at least 3 times. 📸
✨I triple confirm addresses weeks before. If I have not been there and I am able to, I drive by and figure out parking before the day. 🚙
✨I only set my cameras down with my bags if they are going to be out of my sight. 📸
✨I am ceremony ready 15 minutes before go time. 🕊️
✨I guard your rings with my life, never do anything that could result in damage or loss while I photograph them and I give them back as soon as I am done with them. 💍

Brides and grooms, this may be my best price of advice I could give you - the goal is never to create moments you think will be meaningful. It’s to be present and let the room be observed by others.

Grief and healing aren’t linear. You can’t set a timer and expect things to be over when the time runs out. There are okay days and the really bad days. I think it’s fair to share with you all the reason for my absence and why it will continue. Dixie has been a permanent member of this page since the day I brought her home. Many of you have met her or atleast seen her on my story regularly. Dixie passed away almost a week ago. I’m not myself, I’m struggling to navigate life with out her because she had literally been my life for 9-1/2 years. Her passing was very unexpected and there was nothing that could have prepared me for what we have gone through the last few weeks. If you know me, you know that my dogs are my life. And Dixie was everything to me. I will be absent on here for a while. I will share client highlights in posts. But please don’t make assumptions on my absence for interacting with anyone. I need time. I need space - but I will still share happy highlights from clients weddings and sessions. Thank you all for your grace while I navigate a new normal. Thank you for those of you who have reached out to me personally offering condolences. I’m not ignoring you. But I’m not ready to accept that I’ve gone from two dogs to one. I just need time to figure things out. Social media will take a back seat, but I also think it’s fair to let everyone know why I will be absent for the foreseeable future. She will forever be my Charleston girl.
