Never before released recordings by Woody Guthrie coming in August!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WOODY!

We're celebrating Woody's birthday with a great big present!

Announcing "Woody At Home: Volumes 1 & 2"
Release Date: August 14, 2025!
Available in CD or Vinyl LP

“Woody at Home” is a two-volume secret treasure trove of Woody’s home recordings. Never intended for commercial release, these raw and intimate home tapes were recorded in 1951-1952 at the family’s apartment in Beach Haven, Brooklyn. Woody made them as his musical introduction to his new publisher. Now, thanks to the leaps made in audio technology, Woody’s voice, ideas, and recordings are able to be shared. Woody sings about historic events, stories of the disenfranchised and ignored, love, and of course, the fight against fascism.

This collection contains 22 unreleased recordings, including 13 previously never-before-heard Woody Guthrie songs. These rare recordings include "This Land is Your Land", featuring new verses, and the only known Guthrie recording of "Deportee" in existence.

Howdy Folks,

Welcome back to another Mississippi Blues Trail Tuesday! This week we are visiting Weir, Mississippi and Choctaw County Blues.

"Choctaw County’s blues history is distinguished by the accomplishments of two artists in particular, both of them singers, songwriters, and guitarists: Levester “Big Lucky” Carter, who was born in Weir and raised on his family’s farm in French Camp, and Texas Johnny Brown from Ackerman. Carter, born on February 10, 1920, began recording in Memphis in the 1950s and climaxed his career with the award-winning CD “Lucky 13” in 1998. He died in Memphis on December 24, 2002."
