Thank you for the feature and publication!!

From their first text: “Pasta tonight?” to their wedding weekend in Italy!!

“Under the soft awakening of a Tuscan spring, Sarah and Maciej’s wedding at Castello di Ristonchi unfolded not as a fleeting event, but as a living, breathing story of community. Set within the rugged stone walls of a thousand year old castle turned eco farm, the weekend breathed with the rhythm of shared life. From the smoke of wood fired pizzas under a twilight sky to communal foraging through ancient olive groves.

Photogrpaher by Laura Memory Photography, this celebration was captured with a soulful, hybrid lens, blending the nostalgia of 35mm film with sweeping drone perspectives of the Pelago hills. Every intentional moment, from the garden dinner looking over the rolling Tuscan hills to the final, rhythmic echoes in the historic wine cave, served as a testament to the Brooklyn couple’s devotion to hospitality, transforming a historic fortress into a temporary home where distant worlds finally met.”

Happy Film Friday 🎞️✨

All film post for an all film frosty sunrise engagement session with 3 different types of film!

There’s just something about 35mm film photography that digital will never fully replicate. The rawness, the imperfection, the magic.

Today I’m sharing three reasons why I love shooting film as a wedding photographer and how I used three different film stocks to tell this story.

🤍 The nostalgia and timelessness
Film photography feels like a memory the moment it’s captured. The grain, the softness, the way highlights bloom all create that dreamy, cinematic look I’m always chasing.

🤍 The intentionality
Shooting 35mm film slows me down in the best way. Every frame matters. It makes me more present, more thoughtful, and more connected to my couples, which is what documentary wedding photography is all about.

🤍 The color and texture
Film scans have a richness that’s hard to replicate. Skin tones feel true, whites feel creamy, and colors have depth without feeling overdone. It’s organic, romantic, and perfectly imperfect.

For this Film Friday, I used 3 different film stocks:

🎞️ Portra 800 is my go to for low light and receptions. It’s soft, warm, and handles tricky lighting beautifully with that signature fine grain.

🎞️ Fuji 400 gives slightly cooler tones with a natural, true to life feel. I love it for daytime moments and balanced color.

🎞️ Kodak Ultramax 400 has a bit more contrast and punch, with vibrant colors that make everything feel alive and energetic. It’s actually my workhorse for dancing film photos on my point and shoot 35mm film camera too!

Each film stock has its own personality, but together they tell a cohesive, nostalgic story. That’s why I love mixing film throughout a wedding day.

If you’re drawn to romantic, candid, cinematic wedding photography, film will always have my heart 🤍

I dance AND take pics. Hire a wedding photographer who does both and often at the same time💃🏽📸

Fun dancing fact: Drew and I took salsa classes when we lived in Miami!

Where can I get a Bad Bunny grass costume for proposals?

But seriously, as a wedding photographer I love being super discrete at your wedding! I step back and use a long lens, squat in the aisle, or find a pillar during toasts to make sure the focus is on you!

I also am not afraid to dive behind a bush for secret proposal photos!!

When your wedding in Italy feels like a movie…

Fun fact: there’s a movie on Netflix filmed at this castle in Tuscany called Toscana!

It was SUCH a joy to spend the weekend with our incredible couple and their guests, feeling like family, and capturing the most amazing rehersal and wedding!

(I was actually 20 weeks pregnant and Drew felt Rio kick for the first time as soon as we got to our Florence Airbnb!)

Happy Film Friday!

H+N eloped at the courthouse then we took photos at the top of a parking deck with their car, some bubbly, and lots of love!

All on black and white 35mm film!

Film was the perfect addition for their nostalgic vibe!

I love the timelessness and how every photo feels like it could be a vinyl cover!

Fall weddings can be colorful too!!

🩷 Can we get some love for her PINK veil?! 🩷

The day was perfect - from her green shoes to a rainbow of fall flowers to a cotton candy machine at cocktail hour!

The day before their wedding I met everyone for a pickleball tournament and it was the best way to kick off wedding weekend!!

Wedding day was full of personal touches, unique details, and joyful moments!
