If you are not outraged by what has happened over the last 72 hours—and by the Trump administration as a whole—then yes, you are the problem.

Not “misinformed.” Not “conflicted.” Not “seeing it differently.”
The problem.

Because outrage is the bare minimum response to watching federal power used to brutalize people in public, to silence witnesses, and to kill someone whose only offense was stepping in to help another human being. If that doesn’t stop you cold, if it doesn’t make your stomach turn, then something foundational is broken.

Do not insult me by calling this “politics.” This is morality. This is humanity. This is what happens when cruelty is normalized, when authority is worshipped, and when people decide that obedience matters more than conscience.

Silence right now is not neutrality. It is consent.
Excuses are not nuance. They are cowardice.
And “both sides” is what people say when they don’t want to look directly at the harm being done in front of them.

What makes this especially disturbing is hearing support for this administration from people who claim to support marriage equality, LGBTQ+ lives, and human dignity. You do not get to pick and choose whose humanity counts. You do not get credit for supporting our rights in theory while backing leaders and policies that openly dehumanize, brutalize, and discard people in practice.

If you can watch this unfold and feel nothing—no anger, no grief, no shame—then we do not share the same values. And I need you to understand that clearly. This is not a disagreement I can shrug off. This is a line.

History is not kind to people who looked away and told themselves it wasn’t their problem. And I refuse to pretend that it isn’t ours.

I’m not asking for debate. I’m not interested in your talking points. I’m telling you where I stand, and why I can no longer excuse, minimize, or stay quiet in the face of this level of abuse of power and lack of humanity.

Given the weather, it’s another comfort food night. And between eight and 10 inches of snow that fell today, I am over winter. On the menu, roasted chicken, mashed potatoes with butter, garlic, and pepper, roasted asparagus, and baby carrots with a balsamic olive oil, marinade, and crescent rolls with a apricot honey butter glaze. Bon appétit.
