Honoring family & heritage is so important, and it’s even sweeter when it’s celebrated in a moment as joyful as a first birthday! Not every photographer has a passion for capturing kids and families, but here’s why I do: I’m in love with love and that includes all types! Nothing is more precious than the unconditional outpouring of love that families have for their little ones. Experiencing life through a child’s perspective reminds me that the world is wondrous, beautiful, and endlessly fascinating.

While some might find little ones unpredictable to work with, I see it as part of the fun! I take my experience as an event professional and marry it with my love for children and families, which allows me to easily adapt to whatever the day brings.

One of my weddings has been featured as a Real Wedding on Loverly, and I am having a pinch me moment! Reflecting on their wedding, I’m reminded of how the entire day unfolded and how it felt: romantic, heartfelt, and elegantly timeless! From their vows to the smallest details, every part of the day felt like a true reflection and celebration of their love.😭

With the official arrival of fall, I’m dreaming of this shoot with the Kwaks in Central Park 🌳

When conquering family photos with little ones, my approach is always to let kids be kids. Of course, it’s important to get the classic group shots with everyone smiling, but allowing your kids to cut loose for some candids can be such a precious time capsule of who they are in this season of life.

That one time I shot a wedding and met a kpop demon hunter ! The singer behind Rumi and the songwriter herself celebrated her cousin’s wedding here in Virginia and can I say, is truly the nicest person. Like… I observed how she took the time to converse with anyone that wanted to talk to her- what a queeeennn 😍

Some celebrations leave a lasting impression, and this Virginia Wedding is one I simply had to share again🥲

Every detail of this wedding spoke to timeless elegance: romantic gazes, modern florals, and a setting that felt effortlessly sophisticated. Eli & Matt are the definition of best friends: They’re goofy, down to earth, and completely in sync, always bringing out the best in each other. From the moment we met, their shared values of family, friends, and quality time together shone through.

They asked to take their formal portraits during their engagement shoot, so that they could spend their wedding day truly soaking in every moment instead of filling it with photos. You might think as a wedding photographer, I would be nervous about capturing fewer newlywed photos on the day itself, but it was the exact opposite! I loved how intentional they were about being present and celebrating with the people they love most.

And celebrate they did! After the ceremony, Eli & Matt treated everyone to an evening of bowling, dinner, and dancing. It wasn’t just a celebration of their marriage; it was a celebration of the union of their entire families. From start to finish, the love that radiated through this group was palpable and infectious, making this day truly unforgettable!

Some stories are harder to put into words, and this is one of them. This wedding was personal. My husband and I have had the joy of watching these two come together and grow together over the years. Countless nights of hanging out in our living room, having the most deep conversations about love, faith and life… and to stand behind the lens on this day felt different. The sweetest girl met the smartest boy, and as their vows unfolded, I was proud; I was blessed. Opposites that don’t just attract- but complete. Their strengths and weaknesses locking together like puzzle pieces.

There was such comfort, such ease, and something about this day just clicked into place. And while I was there to capture their love, I walked away with my own heart feeling so full.

This is only a glimpse of their day, and I can’t wait to share more in the coming weeks. Congrats sweet Erica and Sam!

Tiny fingers, sleepy snuggles, that precious little baby smell… There’s a special kind of wonder in a newborn’s earliest days.

As much as I adore weddings, there’s something about documenting new life that hits differently. Baby cuddles are hard to beat, especially when there’s a proud big brother ready to steal the spotlight! I’m so grateful to these sweet parents for letting me capture Laine’s first days earthside 💕

That’s why I put so much care into guiding you through each shot. Something as simple as lowering your shoulder or tilting your head can make all the difference in getting that frame-worthy photo.

Are you Team First Look or Team Down the Aisle? I’m a huge proponent for “your wedding, your way,” so there’s no one right answer, but for couples who are worried about a first look spoiling their big “down the aisle” moment, let me put you at ease!
 
A first look still holds all of the sacred tenderness that seeing each other at the altar for the first time has, and possibly more since it’s a private moment between the two of you. It’s a quiet time for you to both intentionally pause and soak in the moment before getting caught up in the whirlwind festivities of the day. This is also the perfect time to exchange private vows and sometimes, these can be even more personal than the ones you share at the ceremony!
 
Many of my couples have shared that having a first look actually makes walking down the aisle even more special because you’re carrying the joy of that private moment, like a little secret just between the two of you.

No matter what you decide though, the moment you see each other for the first time on your wedding day will be magic, infusing the rest of the day with love, light, and pure joy. ✨

Davina here! Fall is on the horizon, and with it, a pause. A little break from the gallery of my work to reflect on where this journey of photography and videography has taken me.

Time, grit, and the relentless pursuit of story have shaped me; teaching me not just how to see, but how to feel before I press the shutter or hit record. To fall in love with what light does when it brushes across a face. To hear when a song swells and know exactly which frame belongs there. To anchor in a style that isn’t just about aesthetics, but about emotion- yes even the portraits.

I didn’t realize, in the beginning, how much of a chase this would be! It’s an endless refining, a stretching, at times even a surrender and an evolution of the perspective. At times the process can be frustrating but the moment I get a hit of that feeling from an amazing shot, and the glory of that satisfaction keeps the chase going - I know you photographers and videographers know what I mean!

Lately, I’ve been leaning into the craft of editorial posing, finding rhythm in the in-between moments: the laughter that slips out, the way the eyes react to love and friendship, the quiet reactions that say everything without words. If you’re in front of my camera, you are the inspiration behind my choice of capture!

So here’s to growth. To breathtaking portraits and fleeting moments that live on forever. To the chase for that perfect frame that makes me feel love, life, and depth, the kind of depth you only touch when you know you’re walking in your calling. Best of all - I get to give that to all those that come my way!
