A good time was had by all at the celebratory reception held at the Fornaio restaurant on Market Street, in Reston, Va. last Wednesday. For those of us who were in hustle mode behind the scenes the entire year or those who volunteered to support the many riders cycling on what was predicted to be one of the year's worst storms ever, we can look back and say proudly "we did it for the millions of people across the country who suffer from this dreaded disease." And to the American Diabetes Association's Va. Tour de Cure 2016 crew who either rode their bikes to raise funds toward finding a cure for diabetes, helped set up trails signage and rest stops, canvassed for food donations, participated in set up or tear down of tent and tent furnishings or participated as cheerleaders for the cyclist riding, we salute you and say "job well done crew." Looking forward to seeing each of you again in the fall ready to gear up again for another year of Tour de Cure type fun!

Blend ingredients over ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with a rosermary sprig. Created by Adam Bernbach, bartender at 2 Birds 1 Stone. Secondly, "Call the Highball", 1.5 oz Aviation gin, 0.75 oz, Lime juice, 0.5 oz. Simple syrup and 0.25 oz. Mint Gomme Syrup. Combine in a shaker, shake with ice and doule strain into a chilled coupe. Which one gets your vote--Gin & Green Apple Tonic or Call the Highball?
I love my job!!! Whether it's planning a ribbon cutting ceremony for a new, downtown DC boutique hotel, a short assignment with Bizbash Elevate at the Ronald Reagan Building, an East Meets West party for friends leaving the area or serving as the event planner/producer for Marvin “ Coach” Powell's epic “Champions by Design: Core Success Strategies for Leaders Today” seminars, "We believe in creating event realities beyond your imagination."
We believe also in regularly fine tuning our product offerings and Saturday 's event helped sharpen our "cocktail prowess." BSP team members joined other cocktail aficionados and experts in the industry for the History of the Cocktail Series curated by Derek Brown, and presented by the National Archives Foundation in conjunction with the National Archives’ exhibit “Spirited Republic: Alcohol in American History, on display through January 10, 2016. Were you there? Add your voice to the conversation. Share with us which cocktails you believe typified those most frequently served cocktails during the 80s
American Diabetes Association, National Capital Area Champions’ Reception at the Mexican Cultural Institute, Washington, DC
The American Diabetes Association, National Capital Area held it’s Champions Reception at the beautiful Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington, DC last Tuesday. Over thirty sponsors and more than 300 “cycling/walking champions” met together with a host of event volunteers, including Blue Silhouette Productions’ representatives, to celebrate the charitable goals the riders set and achieved for themselves as they reflected on the number of nationwide diabetes sufferers affected by this disease. The Champions and its sponsors were congratulated and encouraged to return again next year to support ADA in its fight to help “Stop Diabetes” at its very core. TourdeCure.

Wednesday was a fabulous tour day with Danielle Esposti, Director of Events and Rentals at Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater in DC. I was already enamored by the theater's architecture and its graceful interior and exterior elements but I became even more so when I realized that it was not only a venue to showcase the talent of so many actors and American play writers but also a unique setting for weddings, product launches, receptions, conferences, and anniversary parties as well as events such as Ray Bialek's First Annual Industry Night. Treat yourself to a play and envision its many event possibilities!
Janet's workshops take leadership to a whole new playing field!

On Thursday, November 6, BSP and ADA's Tour de Cure 2014 Champions from DC and VA celebrated its many riders who helped raise money to increase awareness regarding the many causes of diabetes and to fund research to wipe out this deadly disease. Delicious food and great music were provided by local talent and generous sponsors at the French Embassy in DC. This year was the first time the "Tour de Cure ride" was held in DC.
Will you plan to join the ADA Tour de Cure riders in 2015?

Destination: Fair Oaks Mall, Fairfax, VA
Blue Silhouette Productions recently had the distinct pleasure of dining with Ed Cassidy, marketing and sponsorship guru for one of the most unique (where else can you get free gift wrap for your purchases), trendy, family friendly regional malls in all of northern Virginia--Fair Oaks Mall.
As an area business owner and a Fair Oaks mall customer, my curiosity was peaked last year after noticing the mall’s exterior landscaping/replacement project; its traffic egress and ingress improvements and the beginning stages of interior renovations (e.g. removal of the fountain and its pool as well as new construction involving the children’s Fun Zone area*).
Although the mall had publicized its scheduled improvements and timeline (estimated completion date fall 2014), I was still interested in learning how as a business owner and consumer I would personally be affected since I regularly visit the mall to meet with clients, purchase event sponsorship gifts and door prizes, and stroll through the mall staring at its many boutiques and anchor stores’ windows to gather inspiration for future events.
The appointment was worth the time spent away from the office. It provided much insight into how Fair Oaks Mall will continue to be an aggressive major player in the retail industry and maintain its competitive edge against other regional stores vying for the same DC metropolitan area customer base. I believe that the timely improvements to the mall will create a new look and feel with the inclusion of multiple, new Wi-Fi hot spot / recharging station seating areas, it’s expansive, welcoming exterior entrances, the open air feel created by the additional skylights, and a new family of restaurants that are being added. These are just some of the benefits that guests will experience as they make Fair Oaks Mall their retail destination!!!
*(The Fun Zone has returned to the delight of both the children and their parents)
"There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man." Winston Churchill. I forgot to mention that during our visit to the Salamander Resort and Spa, Middleburg, VA that we toured the Equestrian Center where we heard about "The Equi-Spective Experience." Equi-Spective is a unique self-discovery program that unites horse and human with the ultimate goal of developing extensive leadership expertise. Using an innovative hands-on approach, participants connect with horses while exploring relationship awareness, communication style an leadership techniques.
