A Building Saved by Community, Still Serving Community
The Stolte Shed began its life in 1909 as a working apple packing shed, reflecting the agricultural roots that helped shape the Surface Creek Valley.
By 1991, the historic structure faced an uncertain future. Rather than lose an important piece of local history, community members, volunteers, local businesses, the Town of Cedaredge, and the Surface Creek Valley Historical Society came together to save it. The building was moved to Pioneer Town and given a new purpose.
The vision was never just about preserving an old building. It was about creating a place where the community could gather.
Today, the Stolte Shed continues that mission by hosting weddings, community meals, holiday celebrations, educational programs, classes, meetings, fundraisers, and countless special moments shared by our community.
More than 115 years after it was built, the Stolte Shed remains one of Pioneer Town's most important gathering places, proving that history is most meaningful when it continues to bring people together.❤️
Have you attended an event in the Stolte Shed? We'd love to hear your memories!
