We would like to ask everyone to please show respect for our farm, our animals, and our property.
Sadly, I find myself having to make several posts every year addressing this same issue, and yet the behavior continues.
Lately, we have had people yelling at our cattle, climbing on our fences, trespassing, and treating our farm as if it were a public attraction. Unfortunately, this behavior is not limited to children. We have witnessed adults doing the same things and setting the example that this behavior is acceptable. It is not.
This behavior has also occurred during events held on our property. We have witnessed guests being disrespectful toward our animals, and that is something we will not tolerate. The health, safety, and well-being of our cattle will always come before the entertainment or convenience of any guest. Anyone found harassing, yelling at, feeding, chasing, touching, or otherwise disturbing our animals will be asked to leave the property immediately.
For those who may not be aware, our farm is monitored by security cameras throughout the property. Incidents involving our animals, fences, buildings, and guests are often captured on video.
We would never come to your home, disturb your animals, climb on your property, or disrespect your privacy. We simply ask for the same courtesy in return.
Because of the continued lack of respect for our farm, our animals, and our family’s privacy, we have made the difficult decision to step away from hosting weddings. We will honor and complete the weddings that are already booked, but after that, we will be discontinuing wedding events and returning our property to what it was always intended to be—a working farm.
To be clear, Rolling Acres Highland Farm is not going anywhere. We will continue breeding and raising our Highland cattle, as that is our livelihood and our passion. Our focus will simply return to farming and caring for our animals rather than hosting public events.
In addition to returning our focus to the farm, we are also choosing to spend more time with our family. Our parents’ health is not what it once was, and time is something we can never get back. We want to be present for the people who matter most while we still have that opportunity.
This decision was not made lightly. For the past five years, we have enjoyed sharing our farm and being part of so many special memories. We are grateful to everyone who has supported us, celebrated with us, and respected our property. However, our peace, our privacy, our family, and the well-being of our animals must come first.
A farm is not a petting zoo, a park, or a tourist attraction. It is our home, our livelihood, and the home of our animals. We ask that it be treated with the same respect you would expect for your own property.
To those who have respected our farm, our family, and our animals over the years, thank you. We truly appreciate your support and understanding. On the plus side, the cows are about to have one killer Bougie barn 😍
