Since 1995 I have been self employed. Over 30 years of owning businesses has taught me a whole lot about people. Most people are wonderful, honest, hardworking human beings. But there is also a type of customer out there that every business owner knows exactly what I’m talking about.
The kind that eats the entire hamburger, enjoys the fries, drinks the tea, digests the whole meal… then suddenly wants to complain afterward trying to figure out how not to pay for it.
And it doesn’t just happen in restaurants.
People will buy clothes, wear them, use them, then come back with some conniving story trying to get their money back. People will enjoy a service, post the pictures, drink the wine, entertain their friends, impress everybody around them… then when the credit card bill hits and reality sets in, suddenly they want refunds over exaggerated or FABRICATED complaints.
I used to say “the customer is always right.”I don’t really believe that anymore.
What I do believe is this:
I should work daily on my character and integrity.
I should provide products and services that are fair, honorable, and equitable. And if I make a mistake, I should OWN IT and make it right.
But there is a massive difference between a legitimate complaint and someone trying to manipulate, threaten, intimidate, or create drama simply to get money back after fully receiving what they paid for.
That behavior disgusts me.
Small businesses are not faceless corporations. Behind them are families, payroll, stress, sacrifice, sleepless nights, employees, risk, and years of hard work.
And to the people who move through life constantly scheming for refunds, looking for loopholes, trying to get something for nothing, manipulating situations for personal gain… life has a way of sorting those things out eventually.
AND TO PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT TALK DOWN TO PEOPLE THAT BUS TABLES , THAT TALK DOWN TO THE JANITOR …THAT MAKE PEOPLE FEEL BENEATH THEM …THAT ACT BETTER THAN THOU….CONSTANTLY BEING ARROGANT, AS IF YOU’RE BETTER THAN SOMEBODY …. Well ….
The BEFORE CHRIST VERSION OF MYSELF MAKES ME WANT TO PUNCH YOU IN YOUR MOUTH, BUT THE PERSON I AM TODAY PRAYs FOR YOU.
I GENUINELY PRAY FOR YOU THAT GOD WILL GIVE YOU A SWEET, KIND, TENDER HEART and HONEST HEART 💜
Treat people right.
Pay your way.
Be honest.
Have integrity even when nobody is watching.
Yes this is meant for some people specifically but if the shoe fits , all are welcome to WEAR IT !!
The world could use a whole lot more of that these days.
