Today we’re getting into the delicate art of pressing poppies — and let me tell you, it’s as dreamy as it looks. Just look at those crinkly petals! 😍
Poppies can be a bit tricky to press because their petals are so thin and their centers so chunky, but don’t worry — I’ve got you. Here’s how to make those vibrant beauties last forever in your journals, frames, or DIY projects:
⸻
🌸 What You’ll Need:
• Fresh poppies (like the stunners in the pic!)
• A sharp knife or scissors
• Parchment paper or coffee filters
• Heavy books or a flower press
⸻
🌼 How to Press Poppies:
1. Pick ’em just right: Grab your poppies when they’re fully open but still fresh. The colors are at their boldest now!
2. Trim and prep: Snip the stems short and gently spread out the petals. If the center is super bulky, you can carefully remove some of the middle to help it flatten better.
3. Layer and press: Place your poppies between two sheets of parchment paper (or coffee filters) to absorb moisture. Then pop them in a heavy book or press.
4. Patience is key: Leave them alone for 1–2 weeks. Avoid peeking too early — they’re fragile and need time to dry flat.
5. Reveal the magic: Once they’re dry, they’re ready to be used in all kinds of creative projects. Frame them, tuck them into letters, or make bookmarks. 💌📚
