Tuesday's Tips: Decorating- know your space

Pinterest boards are a great thing to create when planning an event. It allows you to choose styles/designs you like and helps others see your vision, as well. Before you go spending $$$ on decorations for your next event, consider your event space and what it brings to your vision

1. Does your venue have character? If your event space is historical, industrial, rustic, or has any kind of character, don't over decorate. Chances are, you chose that venue for it's character so don't let your decorations overpower by covering up architectural features or overpower with too much color.
2. Is your venue a blank slate? Some venues consist of white walls and windows. Unless you are wanting a classic white look, use lots of vibrant colors to bring life to your space. Make sure all focal points and tables pop with color to keep the space from looking too big and empty.
3. How high are your ceilings? If your venue has low ceilings, keep the décor low, as well. Centerpieces that are within a few feet of the ceiling can make your space look small and cramped. Using short candles or a simple floral arrangement in a room with Cathedral ceilings can make a blank slate room look empty and feel uninviting.
