Another Beautiful and happy bridal fitting! Thank you Alex for the opportunity to alter your wedding gown and to be a very special part of your day! Alex needed a hem and she wanted to take the fullness out of her sleeves. They had a slight bell shape with a button closure at her wrist. I made it a straight fitted sleeve to the wrist but had to adjust the length also. In order to save the scalloped lace edges the sleeves had to come up at the shoulder therefore resetting the sleeve back into the armhole.

Hi everyone! Today I'm posting a continuation of one of my designs, Genevive, which is a going to be an fit-and-flare style with a chapel length train, all lace (with sequin) and a gorgeous trim around the front neckline (I'm still deciding which to put on. I'm going to have to make it though since I want to incorporate some soft ostritch feathers and bead work). Both the front and back will have a corset and what I show underneath the design right now is a small hoop slip but it will be different shades of natural tones of tulle beginning at the flare on the hip. The design has long, gauntlet sleeves (comes to a point over the top of the hand) with a five button enclosure up the back of the wrist.
This is the second stage of the design process so your aware. The first step comes from the idea, on paper, then the muslin form (which becomes the pattern for the actual fabric. You don't want the cut hundreds of dollars worth of fabric and not know that your design is wrong). So what you're seeing is the muslin form. Still tweeking it some then we will be cutting the fabric for the shell (outer layer, lace), the under layer (the stabilizer) and then the lining. Stay tuned!

OK! Finally this Mother of the Grooms gown is complete! If you recall the hem needed to come up 4" and some of that train shortened, taken in 1" on each side seam and tube sleeves custom made, matched to the fabric of the gown and attached. I just think its GORGEOUS!

Just some pictures I'm adding from my daughters wedding. I altered her dress: added straps, hemmed the front, bustle and changed the back to a corset. I made the two flower girl dresses.

Just some pictures I wanted to post of the designs I've created and made.

A twist on the wedding gowns of today bringing out a tasteful sexy and sassy punk flavor! The mini shirt with a Early Old West flare, a laced up-tied up Renaissance A-line, a 1900's sailor pants suit and a two piece, Medieval evening gown with crystals!😉

Wow! Customer needed a hem but too much had to be taken off and by hemming from bottom would have totally ruined the look of this beautiful dress. So, carefully removed the entire bottom, realigned and pain stakingly hand sewed all layers back on! Still have trim to finish and tube sleeves to made and attach. Will post final pics

My next project is a beautiful A-line or Princess cut, fit and flare all over lace wedding gown in a soft ivory with a slightly darker underlay. Low V neck in front and back, long sleeves to a delicate point on the hands and a vented wrist with functional loops and buttons. Full flare on the skirt with layers of tulle underneath. I haven't decided whether or not to add a low corset to the back or not. Bead work around the entire neckline. I think a chapel length train with buttons all the way down the back of the train. This lace that I found does have a clear cup/faceted sequin that picks up the lighting when the fabric moves just slightly. I'll show you the steps along the way! The first step is to find the fabrics. Since I've already done that I've moved onto putting the design on paper. Next cut the dress form.

A bride came to me with a difficult issue. The gown she ordered had come in fitting her perfectly. However the bust line was cut way too wide at the front of the armhole. The front of the gown did not cover her entire bust. Without any seam allowance to play with and a side zipper, I had to add a facing from the front of the arms down along the side seams and phase it into the side back. And doing this custom to make it look like it was meant to be part of the dress design. Along with pulling her straps up, base stitching the lining to the gown so it wouldn't slip, a hem with a 3" horsehair braid attached lining and a one pt bustle.

The bride fell in love with this wedding gown but she wanted to show more of her waistline. So I converted the back from a 22" zipper to a 5" zipper at the bottom and a corset back.

Hi! I'm Mary Ann! I'll be your seamstress and/or Designer for your special occasion. I have worked in the Bridal Industry for 20 years; altering, making, customizing, selling, fitting, purchasing and I even owned my own bridal shop. My passion is...Wedding Gowns! But, whether it's a Wedding gown, Mother's gown, Bridesmaid or Flower Girl dress, Prom gown or even Quincenera, I will be here to make your dress fit exactly the way it should. I can even customize (Couture Services) for you by adding sleeves, straps a different top, lace or extra beading, detachable train or what ever your heart desires. I also make custom veiling and have a nice selection of decorated combs you can choose from and attach a veil from a variety that I have in stock.
My favorite are bustles! I will use the decorative pattern on your train to design a beautiful bustle and it won't be difficult for your assistant to place, I promise! I don't want you to worry about any part of your appearance during your gala event. I have a studio in my home that's private and yes you can bring up to three guests! And, please remember, it is extremely important to bring the proper undergarments that you will be wearing to all your fittings (I can help you choose which would work best with your gown) and shoes if needed. I have a variety of slips (or petticoats) that you can try and purchase as well.
My pricing is quite fair and I welcome consultations with a fee of $25 that will be discounted from your invoice if you decide to stay with my services. Alteration prices vary according to the gown. I don't have fixed prices because all gowns are different. I don't want to charge you a fixed price for a hem of a ballgown when your gown uses half the fabric!
Custom designing an entire gown (Haute Couture Services) is a truly exciting experience! First we have a consultation or design session to talk about what ideas you may have; (and I love to see pictures so please bring some) from drawings of the Silhouette to all kinds of fabrics. Haute Couture Services should begin between 6 months - 1 year before your wedding depending on how simple or elaborate your design is. Pricing will vary again because of the style but generally this service will begin at
$800 - $3,000.
Please give me a call or message me with any questions or if you would like to schedule an appointment.
