Did you know we started as a one room arts school in 1974? Today our ArtSchool program offers hundreds of classes that allow students to both develop their art skills as well as build community, make friends, and feel more connected. We are always creating art and cultivating community!

Here’s what some of our students have had to say:
“Loved the class and it more than surpassed my expectations. Since coming to the ArtsCenter I feel much more connected to the community.” – A student in Wild Mind Improv with Anoo Tree Brod’s improv class

“A truly delightful experience! I love that the purpose of [Bad Art Club] is more about having a great experience and being in community with others.” A student in Shady Kimzey’s Bad Art Club.

“I’ve been taking watercolor with [Luna Lee Ray] for years. She’s a wonderful teacher. Her class is fun and the folks I’ve met there have become friends.”

What better way to connect with our neighbors than through creating together. 😊
🎨 Donating to The ArtsCenter or registering for a class helps us keep these inspiring spaces alive. Give a Little, Create a Lot at the link in bio! 💛

Our gallery spaces are more than just walls and frames! They are a vibrant creative hub that uplift our teachers, students, and community members.

We’re proud to offer two primary gallery spaces that host rotating exhibitions featuring local, regional, and even international artists. The galleries allow us to highlight community members, teachers and students who are learning in our Artschool programs! These thoughtfully curated shows bring a diverse range of voices. mediums and visions to our visitors, connecting our local art scene to the broader community.

But that’s just the beginning.

We also utilize our hallway gallery spaces to showcase smaller exhibitions, pop-up shows, and feature consignment pieces from artists.

Also, right next to our professional Sweet Bay Gallery sits one of our most inspiring spaces: the Youth Gallery. By positioning youth-created work directly beside professional exhibitions, we send a powerful message to our youngest artists. Your work belongs here!! We believe that by showing children and teens what’s possible, we help ignite long-term dreams of creative careers, lifelong appreciation for the arts, and a sense of belonging in the artistic community.

✨Help us keep these inspiring spaces alive! Support community, creativity, and connection, by donating at the link in bio today!

Join us Friday for the opening of a new exhibition!

We’re so excited to host the The Orange County Arts Commission (OCAC) exhibition Common Good Mutual Aid Auction. This show will benefit artists in Orange County. On July 7, Tropical Storm Chantal flooded Orange County, causing destruction throughout our towns of Hillsborough, Chapel Hill, and Carrboro. Artists have suffered loss of studios, supplies, cars, and in some cases, housing. The Eno Arts Mill, home to the Orange County Arts Commission, was destroyed in the flood and is closed indefinitely.

Funds raised from Common Good will support artists who live or work in Orange County to help them in their recovery efforts. 20% of the funds raised will help the ArtsCenter in Carrboro, to continue to provide funding and scholarships.

Visual artists of all types in Orange and surrounding counties are asked to donate up to three works for the auction which will be on exhibit Friday, August 15 through Monday, September 22 and online. Bids will be accepted through Zeffy, our online auction portal, through Monday, September 22. We hope to include all submitted works, but due to space availability, we may be limited depending on response.

Artists are invited to join the exhibit opening Friday, August 15, 2025, 6-9pm at The ArtsCenter in Carrboro.
