These projects are part of our ongoing commitment to creating safe, accessible, and welcoming parks for the entire Carmichael community.

🐑 The Flock Thickens… Sheep are on the Scene!🐑

Word must have spread through the grazing community... because a whole flock of sheep has arrived at Schweitzer Grove! 🌿

After hearing about all the great grass the goats were enjoying at Jan Park and Sutter-Jensen Park, these woolly coworkers decided they didn’t want to miss out on the buffet. Now we officially have TWO herds working in TWO parks at the same time!

Check out our newest four-legged grounds crew as they help manage vegetation the natural way—one bite at a time. And don’t worry, the goats haven’t been replaced. They just inspired a few new friends to join the team. 😄

🐐 Team Goat or 🐑 Team Sheep? Stop by and check out both of our grazing crews, then let us know in the comments which one is your favorite!

A special thank you to Carmichael Parks Foundation for helping fund these herds.

Food Truck Night Cancelled – Thursday, June 11th at Carmichael Park

Due to the forecasted high temperatures, and discussions with our event partners ( Chamber of Commerce and in the Hood 916), we have made the difficult decision to cancel Food Truck Night on Thursday, June 11th, at Carmichael Park.

The safety and well-being of our community, vendors, volunteers, and staff are our top priorities, and we appreciate your understanding as we take precautions during the expected high temperatures.

The good news—we plan to reschedule this event for the fall and look forward to gathering with the community when the weather is a little more comfortable.

Please stay cool, stay hydrated, and take care during the heat.

🐐 The Herd is on the Move! 🐐

Our hardworking goats have wrapped up their grazing at Carmichael Park and have now made their way to Sutter-Jensen Park, where they’ll be busy munching away on vegetation and helping us manage the landscape naturally.

If you’re out enjoying the park or visiting the Community Garden, keep an eye out for our four-legged grounds crew as they continue their important work! Please remember to admire them from a safe distance and leave the grazing to the professionals. 😊

A special thank you to the Carmichael Parks Foundation for helping support this year’s goat grazing program, and to Nature's Lab School, LLC , our Community Garden Sponsor, for their continued support of Sutter-Jensen Park and the Community Garden.

❤️💙 Important Update: Red, White & Blue Celebration 2026 ❤️💙

Carmichael Recreation and Park District has been making significant improvements at the La Sierra Community Center through Measure G Bond Funding. 🚧🏗️

While we hoped to bring back our Red, White & Blue Celebration this summer, construction on the new soccer field, irrigation and drainage systems, walking paths, and accessibility improvements are still underway. As a result, the event will not be held this year.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support as we invest in enhancing recreational opportunities for our community to enjoy for years to come. ❤️🤍💙
