meet our general manager, Jose

if you’ve been to Foray in the last year you may have noticed a new friendly face. Jose and his family moved down to the Monterey Bay from San Francisco and it feels like he’s always been part of our team.

he brings with him many years of service and a plethora of wine knowledge.

it took us almost 3 years to find an experienced leader that fit with our values, and we couldn’t have imagined anyone better.

he is our resident beverage expert and supplies us with endless dad and non dad jokes. be sure to say hi if you see him around town!

the bread program at Foray keeps our head chef busy. between the starter and the bread something needs be done every day of the week. the stiff levain sourdough starter is now 3 years old. we make the crostini crackers found on the dessert cheese plate from the starter as well as the bread pudding dessert

checkerboard produces small, sustainable lots crafted by legendary winemakers who also share a passion for animal rescue 🐑.
