🎀 Great News 🎀 I completely forgot to post my annual Breast Cancer Awareness Post in October. I was so busy and feeling so far past my battle it completely slipped my mind.
I’m 5 years post surgery, post chemo, post second surgery, post radiation. THAT’s HUGE!
Here are my BIG TAKEAWAYS that might help you or someone you love:
1. If you feel something odd in your breast that does not go away, do not hesitate to ask your physician.
2. If that medical professional tells you, “it doesn’t feel like cancer “ THEY CANNOT TELL BY TOUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do NOT let them convince you that it’s no big deal. This happened to me. I demanded a diagnostic mammogram. It happened to my best friend years ago and she later died from breast cancer at age 40. Don’t let anyone make you feel silly, foolish, hysterical. You know your own body best!!!
3. If your mother or sister had/has breast cancer, you are automatically high risk.
4. If you are afraid to seek help because of cost, TELL YOUR PHYSICIAN. OR message me. I can point you in the right direction. There are so many programs available for women who are underinsured or uninsured. SO MANY.
5. Research is happening all the time. The drug that saved my life was approved in 2006. And now it’s being used to treat other cancers.
Sooooooo, here’s to living!!! I’m always here to listen if you want to chat, commiserate or cry. I’ve got you. 🤍
