Possibly the most perfect wedding ceremony tree backdrop in South Central PA is located in Carlisle. I’ve been honored to decorate this majestic chestnut twice and certainly believe he love’s the costume change of a pastel wedding floral theme, leaning peachy, to complement the ice blue accents provided by dresses and decor.
The whole look was something to behold even with a perfectly-timed thunderstorm hitting right after the newlywed’s dip-kiss exit.
Find your historic, park-like wedding setting suitable for both diy and full-service brides by contacting The Cumberland County Historical Society and consider Speckled Hen Florals to assist with decor- we’re just 15 mins away and love flowering weddings for south central PA couples.

The weather was made-to-order perfection for this in York, PA. Our bride started planning nearly two years in advance for her May wedding featuring a blue and white palette of romantic, textured spring garden blooms by choosing to bring her vision to life. Every season is different, and for this May bouquet, we used textures: nigella, wood hyacinth, penny cress, larkspur. Fluff: sweet pea, ranunculus, delphinium. Form: campanula, playa blanca rose. Structure: hydrangea and carnation, variegated pittosporum. I think it turned out just right.🫶
Images by captured the beauty of bride and her bouquet perfectly.

There’s something about the combination of pink and yellow in spring. Like a royal Battenberg Cake of yumminess, this combination is feast for your eyes.

Quintessential Pennsylvania in mid-April with Kwanzaa cherry branches, bleeding heart, hellebore, narcissus, tulips…two of my favorites: pale pink Foxtrot and butter yellow Akebono.

Now planning ahead for my April 2027 brides with tulip orders including antique tones, blush and white. 😍 Truly looking forward to partnering with
and for more spring elegance!

It’s all an experiment really. Consider this my sketchbook. Only 5 ingredients.
It seems centerpiece wreaths are trending as I’ve received several requests. I wanted to find a method that would economize materials cost contained within a single base. I settled on an 11” plate, Lomey dish, taped wet foam pieces around the edge, and added flowers. This allows for easy transport, concrete measurements, notes on stem counts, and adjustments.
Outcome: 11” dish with 1/3 foam brick cut to 2”- glued to base. 1/3 bunch of 9 different floral ingredients.🤓

Thoughts: If you’re wondering: “Geez Liz, 🥴why don’t you just make a wreath?” Well, yea that’s one way. I could water tube flowers and stick ‘em. But for the love of all things good!…actual wreaths as centerpieces look sooo bad! Why? Well, because the best part of the wreath, the beautiful negative space in the center becomes invisible on a tabletop and all you’re left with is a flat mass without depth or dimension. Like pulling a painting off the wall and laying it on a table. Do not do it. My floral PSA.😉
Now, go out and experiment!🫶

This year’s acrylic persimmon, a fruit that symbolizes resilience, is my small contribution to a much bigger story through annual Persimmon Awards.

The YWCA of Cumberland County honors women whose mentoring, leadership, advocacy, and unwavering support uplift families and strengthen our community. I’m grateful to create a piece that becomes part of their award—an object that celebrates the quiet, powerful work they do every day.

My second year participating, and still deeply honored.

I can’t help myself. Sundays are for relaxing and playing with flowers…..Creating before these beauties fade.
Honestly, I’m releasing some nervousness before next week’s Mohs surgery; there, that little spot on my left cheek. Common surgery. Obvious location. No swimming for 2 weeks. Should have worn more hats and sunscreen. Tell me it’ll be fine.🫣

Flower crown workshop & portrait experience coming to Carlisle, PA July 24th. More info soon.

I buy myself flowers, especially during cabin-fever weeks of February.
My favorite color- fuchsia paired with fresh greens and curly willow twigs - also my favorite.
The brief, afternoon sunlight shone like a spotlight waiting for a star. So I played, photographed, and felt invigorated.
6 weeks remain until my 800 tulips bloom. For now I have these. Spring will be here soon.
Go play in the meantime.😘

My dried flower stash makes a statement with this pretty-in-pink bouquet.
I dry a good amount of flowers each year with high hopes of turning them into wreaths and other creations.
As any true artist-hoarder knows, the stash of supplies comes first and it’s near impossible to throw anything out but these babies have a shelf life so they’ll head over to for a new lease on life.

I’ll be cutting or drying everything I can next year too (it’s a habit I can’t quit) so if you have a hankering for dried blooms, keep me in mind- I’m happy if you’ll take them off my hands. 😉

Tonight’s ambitious goal: cleaning out my dried flower stash while the boys watch the Super Bowl. (yeah, uh I have no idea who’s playing. I just know it’s not the Steelers)
Grown and dried with care, these flowers have a beauty at every stage but now that supplies have piled up and my interests turned elsewhere (swimming, reading, writing, taxes) It’s time for these stems to move on.
Thankfully, my friend Beth will be extending their joy a bit longer by turning them into wreaths and bouquets. But first, I wanted to play one last time.☺️
