🌻 It's sunflower season... and we're here for every golden petal!
Did you know young sunflowers actually follow the sun across the sky? This process, called heliotropism, helps them soak up as much sunlight as possible while they're growing. Once they mature, they usually face east to greet the morning sun. ☀️

No wonder they're known as the happiest flower!

A little update from Main Street Florist:

We’re going to close the shop at noon today.

We have power, but like several places around Carlinville, we’re currently without internet. And in 2026, no internet means no phones, no point-of-sale system, no credit card processing… basically all the things that make running a business possible.

We’ve had one walk-in this morning, the staff has officially caught up on everything, and at some point we have to make the practical small-business decision that it doesn’t make sense to keep everyone here for the afternoon when we can’t properly do business anyway.

That’s one of those behind-the-scenes realities of running a small business. Sometimes you have to look at the day in front of you and make the call that makes sense.

So, we’re calling it at noon. We’ll be back tomorrow and hopefully technology will be back on our side, too. ❤️

Thanks for understanding and for supporting small businesses like ours.

Just a little flower nerd heaven 🌸

One of my favorite parts of being at the Society of American Florists convention this week is getting to see what growers and breeders from around the world are bringing to the industry.

More than 3,000 stems are on display for the Outstanding Varieties Competition , new varieties, incredible colors, unusual textures and some seriously beautiful product.

There’s something pretty inspiring about seeing what’s new, what’s coming next and just how much beauty can come from one little stem.

Here are a few that caught my eye.

We’re switching things up for our next creative night at MSF! Mary from True Colors Art Glass is joining us for a night of glass art, drinks, snacks + a little after-hours shopping.

You’ll create your own 4”x4” glass piece and choose whether it becomes a night light, votive holder or garden stake. No experience needed. Mary will walk you through it!
