๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ‹๏ธ MST MONDAY โ€” HYDRATION ISNโ€™T JUST WATER ๐Ÿ‹๏ธ๐Ÿ’ง

One of the biggest mistakes lifters make during meet week is thinking hydration simply means drinking more water.

Hydration is actually a combination of:

โœ… Water
โœ… Sodium
โœ… Potassium
โœ… Magnesium
โœ… Carbohydrates

If youโ€™re drinking gallons of water but not replacing electrolytes, you may actually feel worse on meet day.

Signs of poor hydration can include:

โŒ Cramping
โŒ Headaches
โŒ Fatigue
โŒ Poor muscle contractions
โŒ Feeling โ€œflatโ€ on the platform

As meet day approaches:

๐Ÿ’ง Drink water consistently throughout the week.
๐Ÿง‚ Donโ€™t drastically cut sodium.
๐ŸŒ Eat potassium-rich foods like potatoes, bananas, and fruit.
๐Ÿš Keep carbohydrates in your diet to help retain fluids and fuel performance.
๐Ÿ˜ด Prioritize sleep to support recovery and hydration.

The goal isnโ€™t to see how much water you can drink.

The goal is to step on the platform feeling strong, energized, and ready to perform.

Train hard. Recover hard. Hydrate smart.

P.S. - This works great for other sports as well, not just powerlifting! ๐Ÿ˜

๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ–ค FLASHBACK FRIDAY ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’™

Today marks the 5-year anniversary of my very first powerlifting meet promotion โ€” the 2021 D&D Fitness Back the Blue Powerlifting Meet.

What started as a single meet with a simple goal has grown into something I never could have imagined.

Five years and 22 meets later, weโ€™re still going strong.

One of my favorite things about looking back at old meet photos is seeing so many familiar faces that are still part of this community today. Some are still stepping on the platform as competitors, while others have become judges, spotter/loaders, coaches, vendors, and meet staff helping make these events possible behind the scenes.

Powerlifting has given me the opportunity to meet incredible people, build lifelong friendships, and create experiences that I hope athletes will remember for years to come.

To every gym that has hosted us, every lifter who trusted us with their competition experience, every judge, spotter/loader, staff member, sponsor, vendor, family member, and supporter along the wayโ€”

Thank you.

None of this happens without the support of an amazing community.

Hereโ€™s to the first 22 meets and everything that comes next.

๐Ÿ’ช Five years down. Weโ€™re just getting started.

๐Ÿ”ดโšช๐Ÿ”ต THANK YOU TO OUR JUDGES & STAFF ๐Ÿ”ดโšช๐Ÿ”ต

The success of the 2026 USPC Midwest Regionals would not have been possible without the incredible judges and meet staff who dedicated their time and effort to making this event happen.

To our judges:
Thank you for your professionalism, consistency, and commitment to the standards of competition. Your knowledge and attention to detail ensure every lifter has a fair platform to showcase their hard work.

To our spotter/loaders:
Thank you for the long hours, hard work, and focus throughout the day. From the first squat to the final deadlift, you kept our athletes safe and the meet running efficiently.

To our meet staff:
Thank you for everything that happens behind the scenes that most people never see. Your organization, communication, and dedication are what keep a meet of this size moving smoothly.

To everyone who helped set up, tear down, move equipment, and solve problems throughout the weekend: thank you for stepping up whenever needed. Events like this are only possible because of people willing to put in the work.

The USPC Midwest Regionals continues to grow because of people like you. We are grateful for your support, your professionalism, and your commitment to the sport of powerlifting.

Thank you for helping make the 2026 USPC Midwest Regionals a tremendous success.
