๐ง๐๏ธ MST MONDAY โ HYDRATION ISNโT JUST WATER ๐๏ธ๐ง
One of the biggest mistakes lifters make during meet week is thinking hydration simply means drinking more water.
Hydration is actually a combination of:
โ
Water
โ
Sodium
โ
Potassium
โ
Magnesium
โ
Carbohydrates
If youโre drinking gallons of water but not replacing electrolytes, you may actually feel worse on meet day.
Signs of poor hydration can include:
โ Cramping
โ Headaches
โ Fatigue
โ Poor muscle contractions
โ Feeling โflatโ on the platform
As meet day approaches:
๐ง Drink water consistently throughout the week.
๐ง Donโt drastically cut sodium.
๐ Eat potassium-rich foods like potatoes, bananas, and fruit.
๐ Keep carbohydrates in your diet to help retain fluids and fuel performance.
๐ด Prioritize sleep to support recovery and hydration.
The goal isnโt to see how much water you can drink.
The goal is to step on the platform feeling strong, energized, and ready to perform.
Train hard. Recover hard. Hydrate smart.
P.S. - This works great for other sports as well, not just powerlifting! ๐
