Received our first review for Imagine If God . . .

Imagine If God is a fun little book! I was drawn to the concept of the book which is that God plays a game, painting recognizable things in nature different colors. We see silver rivers and golden grass. Finally, God cannot choose a color for people and makes a plaid pattern of different colors. Imagine If God definitely encourages readers to think about what they see in a new way. It is an exercise in opening up the imagination which can lead us toward gratitude and also gives space for compassion. Since how things look is not our choice but God’s, we don’t have to judge it in the same way.

I enjoyed Imagine If God, Nita Marie Clark does a great job rhyming words within the story in a way that really works. I think this book would be a great lesson starter and I might recommend this book to a Sunday school teacher as it does refer to Christian themes. As a teacher myself, I could see myself using this book to introduce a warm-up activity or even start a discussion about the plurality of beauty. I think this book has a lot of potential if you use it as a part of a lesson.
