Tolovana Arts Colony - Cannon Beach Free Concert in the Park this Sunday
The Hackles bring their lush, lively and stirring folk harmonies to Cannon Beach for a free concert in the park on Sunday, September 6th.
The Hackles--Luke Ydstie (guitar), Kati Claborn (banjo) of Blind Pilot, along with Halli Anderson (fiddle)—deliver “Highly refined songwriting and awe-inspiring harmonization,” according to Rough Trade.
The Astoria-based trio are slated to release their fourth full-length album “I’ve Got Sugar, Who’s My Neighbor?” this fall on Jealous Butcher Records. The album was recorded primarily live at The Rope Room Studio in Astoria and departs from their previous two albums in its aim to capture the intimacy & energy of their live shows.
Kati and Luke originally met as members of the band Blind Pilot (with whom they continue to play), and songs written and gigs played in the downtime between tours formed the seed of what would become The Hackles. They met Halli when her band River Whyless toured with Blind Pilot in 2016.
Powerful harmonies & an unconventional and nuanced use of guitar, violin, banjo & clarinet combine to create The Hackles compelling and unique brand of folk that lies somewhere between Appalachia and Topanga Canyon. Their songs are imbued with compassion, humor & a dark honesty.
This free, family friendly concert begins at 5:00PM. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, low-backed chairs and fully stocked picnic baskets.
The park is located in downtown Cannon Beach, northeast of the Chamber of Commerce at 2nd & Spruce.
The concert is produced by the Tolovana Arts Colony and made possible by a Community Grant from the City of Cannon Beach.
