Fall colors on the Grand Mesa high above Grand Junction, Colorado, always is spectacular, but this year, I saw more and deeper shades of red and orange in the aspen leaves than I've ever witnessed. During a late September sunset glimpsed from near 11,000 feet, the foliage glowed with a special radiance as the last light warmed the landscape.
