Good morning iris lovers! 🌸

Today let’s take a look at the wide variety of plicata form iris we have growing here in our fields. Some are delicately dotted, others are boldly saturated, and everything in between. A few of these beauties are beloved historics that have earned a permanent home in my garden, can you guess which ones?

Here’s a closer look at this one after my earlier post! Meet Midnight Kitty 🐈‍⬛

This gorgeous near-black beauty was bred by Francelle Edwards, registered in 2010 and introduced through Kary Iris Gardens in 2011. Black standards, purple midrib style arms, and those little white veins tracing around the beard… just like whiskers on a cat 🐈‍⬛

Francelle has since passed away, and irises like this one are part of how her work lives on. Every bloom in the garden carries a little piece of the person who created it.

My DMs blew up with interest in this one! She’s not available right now, our sales are closed for the season, but keep an eye on our website come spring 🌱

Imagine my surprise to find this gorgeous bloom this morning. Not just because of the insane heat we’ve been having, but because the deer 🦌 have been eating everything they can get their mouths on lately.

This one’s a survivor, and she deserves her own spotlight.
