Hi! I’m Sarah, one of the venue coordinators here at Eisler Farms. As someone who has struggled with low energy levels and overstimulation, working weddings and planning my own wedding really opened my eyes to just how much the wedding industry is not made for people like me, and how many people feel like there’s something wrong with them for needing a break during a 16 hour day.
So here is my wedding day survival guide for my fellow low energy introverts who want to not just survive, but thrive on your wedding day!
My biggest piece of advice is to remember it’s not selfish to put your needs first. Only you know your capacity. It doesn’t matter if Aunt Bethany flew all the way across the country to be here, she can wait 5 minutes while you catch your breath. There is so much pressure on couples to think of the guest experience, but at the end of the day they just want to see you to happy and in love, not miserable and overstimulated.
Prioritizing your capacity means setting yourself and your guests for the best wedding day possible! Weddings are stressful, emotional, and very stimulating. If you know you struggle in those situations, it’s important to treat yourself with some extra tender loving care. Letting your vendor team know too can help them protect you and your energy levels during such a big event. We are all here for you!!
And a HUGE shout out to .pgh for hosting such an amazing workshop earlier this spring discussing the importance of accommodating neurodiversity in the wedding industry and kickstarting such a great conversation!
