As many know of you know this festival marked my 30th and final year being on the committee. This year met many challenges for me. Sometimes no matter how much you plan your never ready. Show numbers were higher in some categories and lower in others. We were told the the market at Teller's was one of the best ones ever!
I want to personally thank my amazing family who once again stepped up to help me. My husband helped so much with setup, tear down, and running all over. Christen dropped everything Friday to come support me when she knew I was at my breaking point. My sweet mom who sat every day at the depot. I would like to thank all the great people who either sat up at the vendor show or entered their items at the show. Lastly, the great individuals who sponsored people's choice for the show. I am so very thankful. A full list later in the week will be posted.
In my 30 years, I have gotten a lot of praise and criticism. As a volunteer, I have never said a word back to anyone until this year. All it took was one unkind person Friday morning to ruin my day and make me speak back. Saturday morning I woke up grateful for the great memories I have and the even better people I have met. I will miss seeing people but thankful I can enjoy the festival as a guest. I want to personally thank a few people who came into my life due to the show. The Barr kids I will truly miss you. Sarah Stehl for always having a sweet word or two for me. Lastly, Sharon Spangler for giving me the itch to try and grow beautiful roses. These are just a few people of the many who have touched my life during the festival week.
As many know, we are moving the first part of 2027, so that is the main reason I am stepping down but I also feel it's time. Ashley Wallace will be taking over the floral and garden part of the show. I will shadow her and be a phone call away next year if she needs any help. Ashley is perfect for this job and I know will give it 100%. I have a few people interested in the other part of the show. If your interested message me on Facebook and we will chat.
I want to thank everyone who I have served with on the Festival. Just a reminder we all volunteer our time to this festival. Many rack up countless hours behind the scenes. If you enjoyed the free music in the park let Dave know. I believe he has the hardest job of all. Lastly, The Mahr's thank you for everything you do for this festival and community. They are truly a treasure to this community. Thank you all again for 30 great years!!
