A weekend interaction at the Burlington Farmers Market: 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

“Hi! I’m Trans!” a young person introduced themselves to me as they walked into my tent.

“Hi! In Mellisa, nice to meet you!” (I had to….)

“I love your stuff. You have Q***r stuff! I’m Trans! I use He/ Him pronouns! “then a handshake and a hug (initiated by him).

Y’all, I cried. This is not the first time this has happened. In fact, almost every weekend at a market, I’ll have a kid, and in many cases, come into my tent and chat with me about Q***r stuff, identity, etc. Each and every one thanks me. I thank them.

Being a Q***r Artist is a beautiful thing. I am honored to be a safe space (tent) for folks to come to.

So sad that I didn’t not get to any Pride Festivals this month, but I like to think my tent is my own little Pride festival every weekend.

Happy Pride Month! Pride year round for all my Q***r Family.
