A wet Texas spring, I started a dream on top of a old Massie Tractor that my 93-year-old grandfather was driving. My love for growing was cultivated by my grandfather, while harvesting his pink-eyed peas and tomatoes throughout my childhood. I spent a countless hours researching, a year testing, and Spring 2015 established Gilbert Creek Gardens that is located on my grandparents 3.2 acres.

If you would have told me when I started this flower-farming gig that one day I would be creating funeral flowers, I probably would have laughed.

I’ve always been a little socially awkward, and honestly, I never imagined myself stepping into some of the tender, emotional moments that come with this career. But over the years, I’ve grown into this work—and one of the things I’ve come to love most is walking alongside families as they honor and celebrate the life of someone they love. 🤍

It is an incredible privilege to be trusted with something so meaningful.
Thank you for allowing me and the team at Gilbert Creek Gardens to be creative, thoughtful, and intentional as we create beautiful flowers to help tell a loved one’s story.

Flowers can’t take away the grief, but they can bring beauty, comfort, and a tangible expression of love to a difficult day.

WOW! 🤩 Our Burkburnett ISD teachers and staff are truly loved and appreciated! 💕 The response to our first-day-of-school giveaway yesterday was absolutely incredible!

While I wish I could have given every single teacher and staff member a little flower joy, we selected 10 names from each school and delivered their flowers today! 🌸💐

Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate a teacher or staff member. It was so sweet to see how much love and appreciation our community has for the people who pour so much into our kids every single day.

I’m praying for an amazing school year for every teacher, staff member, and student—and that each of you feels just how special and appreciated you truly are to this community. ❤️

For me, it's July.
Every. Single. Year.

Somewhere in the middle of summer, I hit a wall. My motivation fades. My creativity feels harder to find. I second-guess everything, and the joy I normally have seems just out of reach. This year has been especially hard after my grapevines got over-sprayed.

It's strange because this is supposed to be the "good season."

Everything is growing. The gardens are blooming. The vineyard is full of life.

But I've learned something from both gardening and my own heart...

Just because something is in a season of growth doesn't mean every day feels vibrant.

Plants have seasons of explosive growth, and they have seasons where they're quietly putting energy into strengthening their roots. We don't dig them up because they look different for a while. We keep watering. We keep caring for them. We trust the process.

Maybe our souls work the same way.

If you've found yourself feeling a little "blue" lately—even in the middle of summer—you aren't alone.
Give yourself grace.
Spend time with people who fill your cup.
Get outside.
Rest when you need to.
Pray.
Keep showing up.

You don't have to bloom every single day to still be growing.
