Whew, East Aurora was HOT today! 🥵☀️

But we made it through with smiles on our faces, plenty of Tanzanian food coming off the pans, and some really good moments along the way. 🇹🇿❤️

One of our favorite parts of these market days is seeing familiar faces come back for more, and getting to meet new ones, too. 🥰

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, grabbed a plate, said hello, or simply came over to see what we were cooking. We had such a fun day at Hometown Market, heat and all!

See you in September, East Aurora. ❤️

Vitumbua 🤎🇹🇿

Soft and fluffy inside, beautifully golden outside, with the subtle sweetness of coconut and warmth of cardamom.

In Tanzania and along the Swahili Coast, Vitumbua are a familiar favorite, enjoyed with a hot cup of chai in the morning, shared with family and friends, or eaten as a snack throughout the day. ☕️

Simple, comforting, and made for sharing… but we wouldn’t blame if you enjoyed them all for yourself 😅

Some ingredients choose you. 💚

We spotted this beautiful bunch of kale at Hometown Market yesterday and immediately knew it was coming home with us.

Today, it became Sukuma Wiki, one of East Africa’s most beloved vegetable dishes. The name literally means “stretch the week” in Kiswahili because it’s an affordable, nourishing side that’s enjoyed alongside staples like ugali, rice, or chapati. Every family has their own way of making it, but today’s starts with fresh greens, onion, carrot, and a whole lot of love.

A huge thank you to our friends at Healing Poem Farm | Ecological Produce & WNY CSA for growing such gorgeous kale. 🌱 We love being able to celebrate Tanzanian flavors while supporting fellow local producers here in Western New York.

Food has a beautiful way of connecting communities, from your farm to our kitchen to your table.

Asante Sana 🇹🇿 ❤️

We were so busy serving everyone today that we hardly remembered to take any photos or videos, and we’re not complaining one bit. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our tent at the Hometown Market in East Aurora. Whether you came to try Tanzanian food for the first time, returned for your favorites, or simply stopped to chat, we’re so grateful for every single one of you.

The welcome we have received from this community has meant more than you know. It was truly a joy to share a little piece of Tanzania with you.

Asante sana, East Aurora! 🇹🇿 We can’t wait to see you again next month.
