🌿 Word in Bloom: Ravissement
— from the South of France 🇫🇷

The French have a beautiful word for those moments when something lovely makes us stop in our tracks.

Ravissement (rah-vees-MAHN) — a state of rapture, enchantment, or overwhelming delight; the feeling of being transported by something beautiful.

Perhaps that is one of the gifts of traveling: we step outside the familiar and suddenly begin noticing again. A garden gate, flowers tumbling from a window box, an old stone wall covered in roses—ordinary things become invitations to pause.

Ravissement is more than seeing beauty. It is allowing ourselves to be captured by it.

“One thing have I asked… that I see the beauty of the Lord.” — Psalm 27:4

May we never be so hurried through life that we miss the beauty around us—the kind meant to stop us in our tracks and take our breath away.

🌸 100 Followers — Thank You!

A little milestone that means a whole lot to me. Grace Upon Grace Gardens has officially welcomed its first 100 followers! 🌿

To every person who has clicked follow, liked a post, shared something with a friend, stopped by to shop, or simply encouraged this little flower business along the way—thank you. Watching Grace Upon Grace Gardens grow has been such a joy, and your support is a meaningful part of that growth.

I hope you’ll continue to follow along for beautiful blooms, a little garden inspiration, faith, encouragement, and perhaps a new flower or two to fall in love with. And, of course, I’d love for you to come see us and shop in person!

🌷 Now I’d love to hear from you: What would you like to see or learn more about? Flower arranging? Growing flowers? The meaning behind different blooms? Behind-the-scenes florist life? Drop your ideas in the comments—and invite a flower-loving friend to follow along, too.

“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart.” — Psalm 9:1

Here’s to the first 100—and to growing something beautiful together. 💐

🌾 Make hay while the sun shines… and gather the flowers while they bloom.🌻

Every season carries its own invitation. A garden reminds us that some moments cannot be postponed: flowers must be gathered while they bloom, abundance enjoyed while it lasts, and good work done while the opportunity is before us. Perhaps the lesson is not simply to make the most of our time, but to recognize what the season we are IN is offering—do the work, gather your people, set the table, pick the flowers, and faithfully enjoy what the Master Gardener has placed before us.

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1

🔥 BLOOMS FOR THE BRAVE 🔥

This week’s arrangements are filled with the brilliant colors of fire—but for our area, fire has meant something far more serious.

As brush fires threaten our land, homes, livestock and livelihoods, local volunteer firefighters continue to answer the call.

Today through Sunday, September 6, your engagement with Grace Upon Grace Gardens will increase my personal donations to five local volunteer fire departments:

🔥 Every LIKE = $1 to EACH department
🔥 Every SHARE = $5 to EACH department
🔥 Every NEW Facebook follower = $10 to EACH department

If Grace Upon Grace Gardens gains 100 new Facebook followers by Sunday, I’ll add another $100 to EACH department’s donation!

Together, we can raise up to $2500—$500 for each of five local volunteer fire departments.

Please like, follow and share, and invite your friends to join us. If you’d like to make an additional donation to our local VFDs, message me to learn how you can participate.

With heartfelt gratitude for those who run toward the fire. ❤️

Shares must be public to count. Engagement will be counted through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, September 6. The maximum total donation, including the 100-follower bonus, is $5,000.

🌿 Word in Bloom: Peregrination

There is something about leaving the familiar that invites us to notice the world—and perhaps ourselves—a little differently.

Peregrination (per-uh-gruh-NAY-shun) — a journey or wandering from place to place, especially one that is long or meandering.

Tolkien famously wrote, “Not all those who wander are lost.” Sometimes wandering is precisely the point. Travel introduces us to new landscapes, unexpected beauty, and things we might never have known to seek. We return carrying something of the journey with us—a new idea, a fresh perspective, or a deeper appreciation for home.

“The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” — Psalm 121:8

Perhaps the beauty of peregrination is not only in where we go, but in who we become along the way.

💝 The best gifts need no occasion. 💐

A thoughtfully chosen gift simply says, I saw this and thought of you. You matter to me. I hope this brings beauty to your day.

Through a cheerful bouquet or a meaningful little treasure, we can be a blessing—a tangible expression of God’s grace that brings joy to someone who needs it.

Perhaps “just because” is the sweetest occasion of all. 🌼

“God loves a cheerful giver.” —2 Corinthians 9:7
