Artful Dodgers Poetry, founded at the historic Montauk Club constructed in 1891 in Brownstone Brooklyn employing elements of two Venetian palazzos, hosts monthly open mic readings, several of them in person each year and all of them accessible online. Artful Dodgers Poetry hosts monthly poetry readings, with a mix of open mic and featured readers, at the Montauk Club, a Landmarked historical trea

sure styled in 1889 after a Venetian palazzo. A schedule of upcoming events will be posted on Artful Dodgers Poetry's page and also on the page of Harvey Soss, the series' curator. The Montauk Club is located at 25 8th Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn, just around the corner from the Grand Army Plaza 2/3 subway stop and an easy walk from the 7th Avenue Q/B and F stations (8th Avenue exit at the latter). The mission of Artful Dodgers Poetry is to bring the best poetry available in NYC and beyond to as wide an audience as possible, bridging generations, in a setting remarkable in its own right for its unique, and likely never again to be duplicated, aesthetics.

ARTFUL DODGERS POETRY’S WE’RE MAD AS A HATTER AND WE’RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE VIRTUAL OPEN MIC
INVITES YOU TO JOIN US THIS SUNDAY, JULY 27TH

Certainly this summer, its temperatures already having exceeded that of the hot air of bloviating climate change deniers, demands a tea party to celebrate our relative sanity. And a tea party we shall have. Register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/artful-dodgers-poetrys-come-share-some-words-and-virtual-tea-with-us-party-tickets-1502064147299?aff=oddtdtcreator
Or directly through Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/.../register/fP4vZtoVTZOtitLVuCvjRA .
Join Artful Dodgers Poetry on Sunday, July 27th, at 2:30 p.m. EDT for virtual tea and let your words, whether freshly baked or still delicious leftovers from another day, be our crumpets, crumpets not easily come by in these parts. We'll enjoy our usual two rounds of open mic reading, time permitting as it usually does, particularly when we stretch it tight as a trampoline and jump on it. Register early for a choice seat at the table where you might just catch the White Rabbit ducking into his rabbit hole, eager not to be too late for a hare loves tortoise assignation. For additional information, or to be added to our notifications list, contact us at [email protected] or Harvey at [email protected]. Mad hatters and mad hats are optional.

First, Second, and Fourth Prizes in the 2024 Writer’s Digest Non-Rhyming Poetry Contest, with a fourth poem given an Honorable Mention, barely missing a sweep of the awards. Like those little gold stars Mrs. Hamburger, my fourth grade teacher, used to hand out for art projects such as creating an African village out of clay. Although no cash awards came my way as the result of my elementary school efforts, just satisfaction for a job well done while scraping clay from under my fingernails.
