Delight Factory celebrates its 5 year anniversary with the opening of DF5, a group exhibition featuring all artists who have shown at Delight Factory in the first five years, most of them with new work, followed by a blessing and a dance party.

✨DF5: The First Five Years ✨ is a group exhibition that brings together and celebrates every artist who has shown at Delight Factory.

The works on view, most of them new and some familiar, move between earth and sky. Some are made by hand from reclaimed materials, some call on sounds of the everyday, and others radiate moving light that is never the same twice. Between earth and sky lies the potential of the personal, and the wish carved into a canoe paddle: Stay up.

What does it mean to make folk music from the future? Musician Joyce Kwon Joyce Kwon discusses reaching back and being present in the future through Jungian thought and native slipstream. She looks at the moon through Korean and Brazilian songs and through the wisdom of the Munduruku. She gushes about Iemanjá, explains why she prefers to call j*zz (mer)folk music, and adopts an other-than-human identity of the cyborg as an Asian American woman. Drawing from a joyful, syncretic faith, Joyce shares art-making as prayer.

✨🎂✨ Five years ago today, on October 2, 2021, we opened Delight Factory to the public ✨

We call it our pandemic baby.

DF was born from the desire to create a home for the monthly Ego Free Jam we’d been hosting in our living room since 2017, as well as for future endeavors, created by or with friends and collaborators. Delight happens when you create the conditions for it, so we called it . ✨💜✨

It’s been a wild ride full of delights and other emotions, and we couldn’t have created it without excellent collaborators such as interior designer Maria Lomanto of DesignGLXY Group, who deeply understood our vision and translated it into spatial and material reality, genius graphic designer Nelia Vishnevsky Nelia Vishnevsky who created the logo and graphic treatment - and the awesome neon sign! - and of course the visionary Kate Raudenbush, creator of the stunning Oculus Root portal and Garden of Delights bar front.

We’re humbled by and grateful for the support, artistic vision, and creativity so many of you talented people have brought to this place. We cherish being connected with you in this way! From the bottom of our hearts we say THANK YOU!!!
