I am a DJ, not a content creator. I am interested in being a great DJ, not a great content creator. I choose to invest energy into growing as a DJ but have no interest in becoming a better content creator. DJing brings me joy and fulfills me, content creation does not. So, like many others, my posting frequency here continues to diminish (as do the returns when active anyway), with mostly updates happening as needed at .nyc. Content can be artfully created but it is not the art itself. It is data optimized and driven. It makes the creator twist and contort for viewership on a constantly moving goalpost. It is not owned by you once it is published. I make art. My mediums are: gatherings (communal, energy rinsing, centered on dancing), fanzines and books (interviewing, editing, curating, connecting), music (writing and producing), records (A&Ring, commercially releasing). When this app dies, its content will die with it but it will take none of my art with it. Been thinking of this a lot lately and it keeps me largely away from here. I thought it was worth a share.

I forget to drink water but will cook him a four course meal. That’s the best metaphor I can come up with at the moment. Perhaps the most honest I can get about the last 9 months as a mom (in certainly not the best words): it is brutal and beautiful and isolating and life-affirming. I love being his number one and I also love working and creating and I don’t know who sold us on this idea that we could have it all but make sure you don’t miss the fine print. I know every parent says this but Rocco is truly the best person I’ve known and in a fu**ed up world that continues to chip away at our faith and morality, he gives me something to fight for and believe in and create for. With motherhood the stakes get so much higher but at last the brain fog has mostly cleared and it’s a brand new day, which is only as good as babe’s night’s sleep. More coffee. And not to self, don’t forget to drink water. It’s breastfeeding awareness month so if you got em, b**b em (if not you’re still pure magic don’t let them shame you).

Today our son decided to celebrate us by waking up at 4 to practice sitting on his own and then blew all his naps because he wanted to spend as much time with us as possible ❤️🤪 wouldn’t do it with anyone else but you

On the morning of the last Together Again party on February 17, 2024 I found out she was pregnant. It was an eventful day, to say the least; and as the sun shone through the basement windows, we welcomed the next day, our bodies still moving to the music, we knew we’d remember that day forever. A year and some change later life looks much different, but one thing remains is our need to get together, move, and experience collective joy.

As usual the party is hosted and produced by our dear friends and mentors Benny Soto and Mike from the legendary Nervous Records. We will have a spread of fruit, energy bars, bagels, juice, coffee in the wee hours. We’ll also be celebrating the birthday of one of our favorite humans, Michele Saunders in the early am hours.

Doors open at 10p and we’ll be going late into the morning – last time ended around 9a. It will be very busy during the normal hours of 11-3ish, so if you’re sensitive to that, maybe it’s best to come around 3-4 and spend the morning with us! Whatever you choose, please come into the space with good energy, and we look forward to being with you.

Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Barbie Bertisch is a New York City based DJ, co-founder of Love Injection Fanzine, performer, and producer of Classic Album Sundays.

Along with Paul Raffaele, she helps run ‘Love Injection’ a monthly print fanzine distributed free via a network of independent record stores nationally and internationally. Co-edited by Paul Raffaele and Barbie Bertisch, ‘Love Injection’ has quickly established itself as a critical platform for celebrating the constantly shifting cultures of dance music. Featuring in-depth interviews with DJs, musicians, artists, and promoters; profiles on record labels, record stores, and nightclubs; alongside record reviews and DJ charts, ‘Love Injection’ is an essential monthly read for anyone interested in dance music and dance-floor culture in all its manifestations, past and present. Love Injection on The Lot Radio serves as the zine's sonic equivalent, airing Saturdays 10am-12pm EST at thelotradio.com. The two also produce the NYC chapter of Colleen 'Cosmo' Murphy's global Classic Album Sundays communal listening sessions monthly, currently held at Nowadays in Ridgewood. She is performing live with Seedy Films, a new band on Manono Records, a label she now runs with Luke Jenner.
