[History of Peak Pro Pyramid Tournament & Ranking system]
The Peak Pro Pyramid system was
created in the mid 1970s by the late Dave Andre. It was designed for the best pink ball players to be accurately ranked & distinguished. Dave was a former tennis player, handball player, guidance counselor, & child psychologist.
In 1987, Dave created the Big blue ball version of the Peak Pro Pyramid.
The Pyramid was a great way to categorize the best of the best Handball players. It required players to answer random challenges from opponents, & play in periodic tournaments that determined your position on the pyramid. It mainly operated at West 4th street park, which was considered handball headquarters.
The pyramid system was the epitome of the phrase: "iron sharpens iron"
The Peak Pro Pyramid system was so successful in the sport, it was copied at other parks, where a park would create their own version of the pyramid for non pro players. Nowadays, this is sometimes referred to as a b-player pyramid. However, there were no such concept of letter grades for players back then.
Although these non-pro pyramids had no affiliation with the Peak Pro Pyramid created by Dave Andre, they produced great players as well.
As Dave became ill, he authorized & entrusted one person to carry on the Historic Peak Pro Pyramid Tournament & Records before passing away. That person was Raul Fantauzzi.
Collecting extensive handball records and rare sports memorabilia,
Raul was a former great player in his own right. He resided on the Pyramid for many years, & also operated over 70 handball tournaments. Unfortunately, he also faced medical battles which restricted him from hosting events.
There have been other pyramid events over the years, but none have ever had direct authorization from the pyramid creator himself, & none have had access to the original records.
In 2024, Mr. Fantauzzi sanctioned & entrusted Rich Hop with carrying on the legacy of Dave Andre's Peak Pro Pyramid Tournament & system.
Later that same year, Rich Hop: Promoter & founder of Wallball Toast Promotions , held the first ever women's Pro Pyramid Tournament. This created a ground breaking moment in handball & extended Dave Andre's Pyramid to new heights.
In 2025, On June 7th, Wallball Toast will be holding the Men's Pro Pyramid Tournament, Co-hosted by Wall Ball Universe & under the Consultation of Raul Fantauzzi.
Creating history once again, carrying on the handball legacy which Dave Andre has laid the foundation for. All records of the Toast Pro Pyramid will be added to the same collection of records from Dave Andre's original Peak Pro Pyramid.
