My early birthday present to myself… and yes, it’s the most GenX thing ever: I bought a big-ass boombox. Aiwa released this retro boombox that plays cassettes and CD's. I waited until Black Friday to sn**ch it up for 30% off. And it cranks!
Back in the day, that thing went everywhere with me. I recorded my bands, my friends’ bands, and served as the de facto DJ at every dorm party, basement hangout, and skateboard ramp gathering we stumbled into. That boombox wasn’t just a portable stereo — it was a whole era of my life that filled me with joy.
So here’s to an old friend finally coming home. I missed you. ❤️🎶
