Lay Servant Classes Available Across the TWK Conference

Laity and supply pastors from across the TWK UMC Conference are welcome to attend any of the following trainings:

The Purchase District is offering an Advanced Lay Servant Course August 15–16, 2025. The course is, Transforming Evangelism, led by B. Andrew Halford is grounded in the teachings of John Wesley, this course explores relational evangelism as a way of sharing faith through connection, hospitality, and community, while also helping churches guide new believers along clear pathways of discipleship. It builds confidence and vision for evangelism, making it approachable and rooted in the Church’s call to make disciples for the transformation of the world. Registration deadline is Wednesday, August 6. |

The Harpeth River District is offering Advanced Lay Servant Courses on August 16 with an additional 4 hours on a date to be determined. Topics are Soul Reset, For the Common Good, and Mission Possible. The MS River District will offer Basic Lay Servant Course on August 14th and August 28th. The time for both sessions will be 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. via Zoom. An additional class relating to the session will also be offered with a date to be determined. Participants will need to order and read the book, Lay Servant Ministries by Sandy Jackson with Brian Jackson. To register or for more information, contact Mrs. Susan Davidson at [email protected]. Kids are at Lakeshore this week, this is Aubrey‘s cabin mates and counselors. Will send pic of Caleb if I get any.

All our kids love “Lakeshore UMC Camp!”
Many have attended from our church over the years including my granddaughter, Tamara.
She worked there as a counselor in high school as well as in college. Her college was only 30 minutes from Lakeshore so very convenient. This camp is a blessing to all our children!

Update on Charlie Elam from Cathy:

Had another iron infusion yesterday. They took a CT of his abdomen to see how much fluid he has. And told me to let the cardiologist know what was going on. He gained 12 pounds in 2 weeks. Just waiting to hear what we need to do next.

We have a meeting scheduled for Thursday with the principal at Austin Peay Elementary to get a list of most needed school supplies for students and teachers.

We had company from Knoxville Friday and Saturday; Charlie's best friend he worked with up there. Charlie has had 2 bad days. He's retaining a lot of fluid. We go tomorrow for his iron infusion. We did get to go to Terry and Dolly’s for them to meet his friend.

Today we celebrated our second Sunday with our new Pastor, Rev. Larry Chitwood and his sweet wife, Lisa. Lisa has stepped up to leading us with our songs praising God! The message today was “And Who is My Neighbor?” from Brother Larry. Benediction and Sending Forth: “Keep your eyes open, hold tight to your convictions, give it all you’ve got,be resolute, and love without stopping.”
1 Cor. 16: 13-14
