Alpaca shearing is wrapped up! Now onto other projects like getting The Vermont Wedding Barn ready for the season.

Les is shown here hand shearing to remove the outer coat of this young alpaca. Alpacas' baby coats tend to act like velcro and have everything cling to them. Les is removing the outer very dirty layer and exposing the clean fleece underneath. After the handclipping, the alpaca will be shorn again with regular clippers to get the remaining usable fleece off.

The first day of shearing is done! 😃Love doing crafts? We have lots of alpaca fiber available for sale. Alpaca is known for being very soft. It is great for spinning, needle felting, and wet felting. Our Story

Champlain Valley Alpacas is a family owned and operated farm nestled in the quiet Green Mountains of Vermont since 1998. We run this beautiful 80-acre ranch, raising alpacas, grass-fed cattle, and chickens with our two daughters, Grace and Olivia. Over the years we have grown to include a farm store, tours, alpaca and beef sales, and farm stay opportunities through Airbnb. We also sell organic and grass-fed beef. In 2011 we began the Vermont Wedding Barn, a venue seating up to 300 people. Here we service weddings, proms, quinceaneras, birthday parties, anniversaries, or whatever event you have in mind.
