How gorgeous is this momma to be? I had so much fun with this maternity session! She wanted to do a cute picnic vibe and I couldn’t be more obsessed with the outcome! Maternity sessions will always be my favorite type of sessions to get creative with and loved getting to shoot all these at my house!

I had the honor of spending my Valentine’s Day second shooting the sweetest wedding at a brand new venue that’s a whole 6 minutes from my house

I haven’t second shot in over 16 years — and honestly, I only did it maybe 2 or 3 times when I first started shooting weddings. Looking back, it feels a little wild that I dove headfirst into photographing weddings so soon after graduating college… but here we are all these years later.

I’ve been dying to shoot at this venue since it opened. I fell in love with it the very first time I saw it in person. So when I saw a local photographer needed a last-minute second shooter, I jumped on it without hesitation.

It was the sweetest day, and I was absolutely obsessed with every single detail the bride planned. Truly the best way to spend Valentine’s Day.

Can’t believe I’m just finally posting these!

This was such a fun shoot — a little mix of birthday celebration photos and some branding images sprinkled in. We mainly shot in my studio at my house then did a few quick pictures at a random spot not too far from my house.

Abigail Gonzalez is always one of my favorite humans to have in front of my camera, and I loved everything about this session. The energy, the confidence, the joy — all of it was SO good.

I’m deciding TODAY which floral set-ups to use for Spring Mini Sessions + a Spring Styled Shoot

The plan:
🌷 Sunday – Spring Mini Sessions at my house
🌷 Monday – Styled Shoot at my house

This way I can maximize the real florals and keep everything budget-friendly while still creating something beautiful and elevated.

Help me narrow it down!
Which set-up do you love most?

For minis, I’ll choose at least two different set-ups.
For the styled shoot, I’m thinking up to three.

Once I decide, I’ll finalize details with the florist and post dates + pricing!

So late posting this but wanted to say thank you for all those that voted Bliss Photography for the best photographer of ascension parish!

I won second place for 2025 Best Photographer of Ascension!

And since it’s been about 5 years since I’ve introduced myself on here… here we go. 👋🏼

I’m Melissa — the girl behind the camera! I’ve been a full-time photographer for over 16 years now, which feels absolutely wild to say.

I’m also a stay-at-home momma to two now. After so many years running this business and now doing both full time… it is interesting to say the least. Emails are hard to stay caught up on and most days I don’t even start editing until 10pm. My almost 6-month-old has also been waking up every hour to nurse lately, so that’s been fun to add to the mix. 😅

But being a photographer and being a mom is all I’ve ever wanted, so I’m trying to soak in the chaos and not take a single day for granted.

A few random things making my heart happy lately:

• Iced King cake lattes + anything king cake (even though I somehow haven’t had an actual king cake this season) Thinking a drive to Twins tomorrow in Lafayette is in order.

• Thrifting — it’s become a full-blown obsession since Jesse was born. I’ve thrifted 90% of my kids’ clothes and love going on little shopping adventures with them.

• Grocery shopping?? I know. I never thought I’d say that either. But I genuinely look forward to our weekly Aldi runs now. I think it helps that I know almost no one in Lafayette so there’s no anxiety of running into a million people at the store lol.

• Photographing at home — getting to create in my own backyard (and now studio!) has been such a blessing with two littles. I don’t think I’ll ever get over how lucky we are to live on such a gorgeous piece of property with the sweetest neighbors who let me use their land like it’s my own.

I’m working on planning some styled shoots for 2026 and looking to collaborate with vendors who want updated images for marketing and social media.

Styled shoots are a great way to get beautiful portfolio content and meet lots of local photographers and other vendors.

Looking to partner with:

• Bridal boutiques
• Bakeries
• Rental companies
• Stationery + signage
• Venues

Always up for adding to my list of models and couples interested too. (So tag anyone you know that would be a good fit and up for being super affectionate in front of a bunch of cameras)

Photographers — I’d also love to hear what you’re wanting more opportunities to photograph this year.

I normally include wedding couples, engagement styled shoot, bridal, maternity and bo***ir. But open to including lifestyle family or seniors if there is interest.

I also always go back and forth on teaching another workshop since it's been 7 years since my last one so would love to know if anyone has interest in that as well.
