Reaching out to all of my Facebook buds today. Most know that I have been involved in the floral industry for a lifetime.
However, we florists need your help.
This coming week is the week we honor all of the Mom's with Mother's Day. There will be numerous ads on TV, radio and print to encourage you to buy your Mother's Day products from some non-floral source...like a supermarket, a big box store or some home improvement type story. They will try to entice you with a big ad and low pricing.
I can't urge you enough to buy your gifts for Mom from the traditional "brick & mortar" florist that exists on the Main Street in your town. They need you for their very existence. They are seasoned professional designers that work on your behalf 52 weeks out of the year. They are the ones that get out of bed 6-7 days a week and work the long 12 hour work days to help show your sentiment at those times that really matter...the births, the proms, the weddings, the birthdays and at at the time of someone's passing.
They are the one's that you reach out to for a door prize at your social and civic club events and they rarely say no. They are part of the fabric of your community.
This week when you think about a gift for Mom, please don't take the short cut and pick up the flowers while you are wheeling through the supermarket or home improvement store. Buy them from a certified professional florist. One that is right in your community. Don't let your local florist go the way of so many other local merchants have over the years. You know...the one's that aren't there any more.
If you can respect and enjoy the beauty of flowers and their creative artistry, seek out your local florist for the absolute best in floral design.
And if Mom lives out of the area...please forget about the "Pro-whatevers" and the "1-800-Promise You The Moon" operations. They will bury you with hidden charges. Buy local this Mother's Day and help support the livelihood of those florist professionals from coast to coast.
