Barge fireworks create a completely different kind of moment. They also require careful planning to produce safely. 🎆

Moving a display onto the water can mean Coast Guard coordination, a marine safety zone, vessel-traffic planning, barge and towing logistics, specialized crew, and additional environmental review. Each layer helps protect guests, boaters, the crew, and the surrounding environment.

In the Florida Keys, fireworks displays within sanctuary boundaries may also require authorization from the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. NOAA recommends submitting non-research permit applications at least 120 days before the requested date.

Every waterfront location is different. Safe fallout distances, vessel access, local approvals, weather, and site conditions all shape the final plan.

**What does it mean when a fireworks operator is PGI Certified?**

It means the owner Josh didn't just buy fireworks and a truck. PGI (Pyrotechnics Guild International) certification is one of only two training programs in the country recognized by the National Fire Protection Association for meeting the safety codes that govern professional fireworks displays (NFPA 1123 and 1124).

Getting certified isn't a weekend class. It takes classroom instruction, live field training, and hands-on experience working actual commercial-grade displays before you're cleared to run a show as lead operator.
