eTown, the internationally syndicated radio broadcast, podcast, and multimedia- and events-production nonprofit, launched on Earth Day 1991 in Boulder, Colorado. Since then, eTown has produced musical, social, and environmental programming all focused on its ongoing global mission—to educate, entertain, and inspire a diverse audience through music and conversation in order to create a socially res

ponsible and environmentally sustainable world. Prior to the pandemic, eTown recorded shows in front of a live audience in eTown Hall, a 17,000 square foot former church in downtown Boulder which has been renovated and transformed into a solar-powered performance and recording facility—likely the only zero-carbon facility of its kind in North America. On April 22, 2021, eTown will host its 30th b’Earthday Celebration live stream which includes an induction into Colorado Music Hall of Fame. eTown is aired on over 300 radio stations nationwide, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Podbean, Vimeo, on Facebook and Twitter , on Instagram , on YouTube, as well as at www.etown.org.

On our broadcast this week, José González looks at the accelerating race to develop artificial intelligence in “A Perfect Storm,” from his 2026 album Against the Dying of the Light. It’s one of the central themes running through the record.

It’s a searching song and a brilliant performance from a singular artist.

The Rememberers are here on October 1, combining global music, myth, spoken word and storytelling into an immersive experience.

Their new work, The Firebird, reimagines a thousand-year-old tale through voice, percussion and string.

This is not a typical eTown concert, but a guided journey through ancient folklore shaped by rhythm, voice and shared ritual.

Eliza Gilkyson’s “Peace In Our Hearts” was written during a divided time (it appears on her 2020 album called 2020), and its message feels necessary still: we’re stronger when we’re on the same side.

We are grateful for Eliza’s time with us, not just this week, but going all the way back to our first season in 1991.

We are looking forward to welcoming The Jacob Jolliff Band, September 12 at eTown Hall.

Jacob’s background includes everything from gospel sets and festival stages to time at Berklee College of Music, where he studied multiple styles including jazz.

A fixture of the bluegrass scene, he has performed and collaborated with Béla Fleck, Tony Trischka, Michael Daves, Grant Gordy, Wes Corbett, and Alex Hargreaves, to name a few. Additionally, he toured as a member of Joy Kills Sorrow and Yonder Mountain String Band.

Currently, his focus is on his own ensemble, The Jacob Jolliff Band — one of the most cutting-edge progressive bluegrass groups on the scene today.

This experience shows up in his band’s inventive instrumentals and tight ensemble playing.

Thursday, September 10: Antje Duvekot and Seth Glier at eTown Hall.

Antje has released four studio albums and received the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, the Kerrville “Best New Folk” Award, and the Boston Music Award for “Outstanding Folk Act.”

Seth Glier is a Grammy-nominated artist and a five-time Independent Music Award winner. He has served as a U.S. State Department cultural diplomat and collaborated with artists such as Ani DiFranco, James Taylor and Cyndi Lauper.

October 19, two remarkable voices in modern folk share the eTown stage for a Live Taping.

The Milk Carton Kids have earned four Grammy nominations by proving that less can be more, crafting songs of remarkable intimacy through two voices and two guitars.

Colorado favorite Courtney Hartman will also be with us. Her new collections With You and With You: From the Garden Shed are deeply personal collections about motherhood, friendship and the power of showing up for one another.

Thursday, September 24: Folk singer Vance Gilbert at eTown Hall.

Vance Gilbert combines folk, R&B and jazz into sharp, story-driven songs delivered with humor and vocal power.

A longtime favorite on the national folk circuit, he has shared stages with artists from Arlo Guthrie and Anita Baker.

Denver-area-based musician Dechen Hawk opens the evening with gritty throwback funk, soul and mid-1990s-inspired R&B. He has shared stages with Leon Russell, Martin Sexton, Bruce Hornsby, Emily King, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band and many others.
