In celebration of Juneteenth, this powerful new community theater production brings the story of one of America’s great Black cultural districts to the stage. *13 Fires* explores the rise and displacement of Indiana Avenue in Indianapolis, once a thriving neighborhood filled with jazz clubs, Black-owned businesses, and cultural icons like Madam C. J. Walker, Ella Fitzgerald, and Duke Ellington.

Through intimate storytelling and memories of a vibrant community, the play reflects on culture, belonging, displacement, and the lasting impact of development. Though rooted in Indianapolis, its themes resonate deeply with conversations happening in Boulder and beyond.
