The Penguin Lessons

Inspired by the true story of a disillusioned Englishman who went to work in a school in Argentina in 1976. Expecting an easy ride, Tom discovers a divided nation and a class of unteachable students. However, after he rescues a penguin from an oil-slicked beach, his life is turned upside-down.

Join us for the opening of Mind Over Mind, a boundary-pushing new visual arts exhibit where art meets science, featuring smart tattoo inks, slime mold, poetic stone interventions, and other radical experiments in material and meaning.

As part of the celebration, don’t miss a live interactive projection mapping + music performance by Denver-based artist Eren Autumn. Fusing code, sound, light, and ritual, Eren crafts immersive experiences that draw from Diné (Navajo) heritage and digital futurism to explore what it means to be spiritually awake in a high-tech world.

Explore the cutting edge where art meets science. Matter Over Mind showcases bold, hands-on innovation by artists, researchers, and inventors who are redefining how we think about the physical world. From smart tattoo inks to slime mold experiments and poetic stone interventions, this exhibit invites you to experience material as a guide to new ideas.

Featuring artists from CU Boulder’s ATLAS Institute and beyond, including:
Joshua Coffie, Meenakshi Skandarajan, Caitlin Rogers, Alexandra Felderman, Ana González Barragán, Andrea Garcia Vasquez, Anna Tsouhlarakis, Belgin Yucelen, Carson Besser, Heather Schulte, Netta Ofer, and Steven Frost.
