"The Beautiful, But Brief Life of Kyre Ambrose"
I was visiting one of my sons and his children when I received the terrible news that Kyre’s beautiful soul had been taken from this Earth. At first, I had difficulty assimilating the reality of this unthinkable news. It is impossible to understand why such unfortunate events are committed.
My heart goes out to his mother, Rina, and his sister Hope.
Rina first brought Kyre to my dance school when he was only eight years old. He was a natural born dancer and performer.
Rina, on the other hand, was often one of the first faces you'd see at the front desk at Tony Williams Dance Center, and she was also a ready volunteer backstage, during performances.
In 2014, I cast him in the lead role of Omar (Kyre is in the red shirt and black vest in the center of the photo below) in the Urban Nutcracker. In later years, he was cast as one of the Rats in the Battle scene, as well as one of the Hoop – dees in the Hoopette & the Hoop – dees divertissement. This divertissement had been primarily danced by females. But Kyre was the first boy to execute both the hula hoop encircling around his hips, and also the required entrechat quatres!
Our lives hadn't intertwined much in the last few years, and that's something I wish had been different. Much like the fading light during a curtain call for a show that mesmerizes you, his bright shining light has been dimmed prematurely. I am positive he will now be dancing with the angels.
