There is a particular kind of magic that happens when the road begins to wind through the hills of Tuscany.
Traveling higher into the countryside, past vineyards and seemingly endless stretches of green, I wasn’t quite prepared for what would be waiting at the other end: Castello Bonaria.
A centuries-old castle rising quietly above the Tuscan landscape, surrounded by vineyards and acres of countryside. Grand, certainly—but never ostentatious. The kind of place where luxury reveals itself slowly.
Here, a wedding could become an entire week.
An aperitivo overlooking the vineyards as the sun disappears behind the hills. An intimate apericena to welcome everyone to Tuscany. Long afternoons spent poolside with nowhere else to be. But what stayed with me most was the intimacy of it all.
Despite the grandeur of the setting, there was an extraordinary sense of privacy ...as though every guest who arrived had somehow been made the most important person in the world. That, to me, is the rarest expression of luxury.
Old-world Italian charm met with thoughtful modern design. Impeccable hospitality without performance. Indulgence without excess. Beauty that didn’t need to announce itself.
I left imagining what it would feel like to take over the property entirely to gather the closest people you love in one extraordinary corner of Tuscany and, for a few days, make the castle your own.
A wedding, yes. But perhaps more importantly, a world created just for you.
