big moment for Boston with Boston Ujima Project's Fund Launch!

Olio Culinary Collective is a proud member of the Ujima Business Alliance- a network of social justice enterprises that will be eligible for potential financing from the Fund. we can fund our own futures, and own our own labor.

The Boston Ujima Project last week announced the launch of the nation’s first democratic investment fund. Through the Ujima Fund, community residents and other investors will create a pool of funds to be allocated by local stakeholders in ways that benefit Boston neighborhoods and businesses.

We're excited to be a part of Boston Ujima Project!

“Ujima is trying to model different ways of transacting and relating with one another,” Evans says. “The assembly is an opportunity to experience this in real time, to come together and say, ‘What businesses do we want to support? What needs does our community have? How should businesses and the community be interacting with each other? How will we hold businesses accountable?’ It’s moving from abstract understanding to feeling what it’s actually like to do this.”

A pioneering project marks its first year collectively determining community needs and priorities, and deciding on lending criteria the project will use going forward.

Our friends and CommonWealth Kitchen and Bow Market neighbors Buenas are hosting an incredible party on Thursday Sept 13. They are donating all proceeds to Hurricane Florence relief efforts. Come out, support, and peep Tanám’s ongoing (and very very impressive) construction efforts. It’ll be a really awesome night: https://www.facebook.com/events/2056652734664969/?ti=icl

Growing up, we had hurricane parties when a storm was imminent. Well, tomorrow’s weather in Boston looks frightful but not as frightful as this. We’ve decided to donate all proceeds from ticket sales to (unfortunately likely inevitable) relief efforts for Hurricane Florence. Come party with us for a good cause.
