For those of you who said MAREMMA you are CORRECT! We love these amazing dogs. They protect our livestock and our farm/homes. They instinctively know to protect the babies. Heres an old video of one of ours with a calf. Here’s a little tidbit about the breed:

The Maremma Sheepdog is a historic livestock guardian originating from the Maremma region of Italy's Tuscany and Lazio. Highly valued by generations of shepherds, the breed boasts a 2,000-year-old history dedicated to protecting flocks from wolves, bears, feral dogs, and human intruders. Even the 1st-century BC writer Varro documented these dogs, highlighting that their distinct white coats were intentionally chosen to keep them visible at night.

Well, we have a new friend in the pasture. It’s a cattle egret and it needs a name too. Wouldn’t it be fun to have the new calf and this guy to have names that go together? Like Gus and Gunner? I don’t know if the bird is a boy or girl so any name would work!
