Every time I unlock my office door at The Bishops’ House, I have the same thought: "We are so lucky!"
We are lucky this house survived the urban renewal of the 1970s. We are lucky we have a community that values its roots. And I am personally lucky to work alongside a volunteer board dedicated to every shingle and floorboard of this home.
But as any caretaker of a 137-year-old home will tell you, the work of preservation never ends.
Today, for Idaho Gives, I am asking for your help. We aren't just looking to "keep the lights on." We are always working to ensure this landmark remains safe and beautiful for the next generation of Boiseans.
We are honored to have received donations from many of you in the community. Family, friends, and champions of historic preservation supporting our mission means so much to the house.
Please, if you haven't yet, I encourage you to join us by donating through Idaho Gives on this final day. Your donation will be matched one-to-one and will further our mission of preservation and restoration.
Whether you’ve joined us for a Victorian Tea, the Kentucky Derby, one of the hundreds of weddings, or simply strolled through the gardens listening for the horned owls or peaking at frogs in the lilies, you know that The Bishops’ House is more than a historic home. It’s a living part of our city’s story.
Please join us in protecting that story.
With gratitude,
Amelia M. Berg
