When talent meets inspiration, the results are extraordinary. Developing the exceptional instrumentalist’s performance ability is our primary goal.

Our intimate size enables us to maintain full-tuition scholarship support and extensive performance opportunities for all students. In addition to large and small ensembles, students participate in repertoire classes, junior and senior recitals, mock auditions, juries, master classes, weekly performance forums and an annual concerto competition. Our eminent faculty are dedicated to making Lynn one of the finest training programs for performers in the world.

That’s a wrap on week one of the 2026-27 academic year! Our students spent the past five days reconnecting, auditioning, attending orientations and classes, and, of course, practicing. We are excited for a great year of music making ahead! 🎶⚔️

Dr. Roberta Rust, head of the Lynn Conservatory piano department, recently made a four-city piano master class tour of China, visiting Shanghai, Jiashan, Hangzhou, and Xuzhou. While there, she connected with Lynn piano alumni, her former students Wang Yingpeng (BM ‘20) and Xiaoxiao Wang (BM ‘20, MM ‘22).

Experience the next generation of classical musicians as the Lynn Philharmonia’s 2026–27 season celebrates the extraordinary talent of our students alongside world-class faculty, orchestral masterworks, and the debut of Lynn Pops!

The season features the best of symphonic repertoire by Schubert, Berlioz, Brahms, and Bartók, alongside performances by our annual concerto competition winners, student composer Matthew Chou (BM '27), and student conductor Aidan Quintana (BM '27). Opening night also features Distinguished Artist-in-Residence Kenneth Amis performing his own Tuba Concerto.

This summer, violinists Julia Jacobsen (MM ’27) and Meixi Zhou (BM ’27), along with incoming cellist Luis Bernardo Castro Sanchez (PPC ’28), attended the Chautauqua Institution in New York, where they performed with the Music School Festival Orchestra, participated in chamber music and student recitals, and studied with renowned faculty. 🎻

Every Friday, Lynn Conservatory students step into the Amarnick-Goldstein Concert Hall for Performance Forum, a weekly class where the entire Conservatory community comes together to perform for one another.

Faculty offer comments on every performance, giving students consistent stage experience and thoughtful guidance week after week. It’s a cornerstone of their training and a supportive space to grow as performers.

From Lynn to Guatemala ⚔️🇬🇹 — Dr. Roberta Rust, Professor of Piano, recently served on the jury of the Luis Felipe Arias International Piano Festival & Competition in Guatemala City and gave masterclasses at the National Conservatory of Music. She also performed a solo recital and in a chamber music concert with the Cuarteto Aldebarán.

Lynn piano alumni Jr Medina (PPC ’23, pictured) and Dr. Alfonso Hernández (PPC ’17) co-founded the festival, with Medina serving as artistic director. The President of Guatemala, Bernardo Arévalo, attended the festival’s closing concert on July 17 in the Salon de Conciertos in the Conservatorio Nacional de Música, “Germán Alcántara.”

We are pleased to announce that Marc Reese will serve as Interim Dean of the Lynn Conservatory of Music for the 2026–27 academic year!

A member of the Conservatory faculty for more than 25 years, Reese has served as Associate Dean, Professor of Trumpet, and Artistic Director of the Roger Voisin Memorial Trumpet Competition. Prior to joining Lynn, he enjoyed an international performing career as a member of the internationally acclaimed Empire Brass Quintet and performed with leading orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Cleveland Orchestra. He brings a wealth of administrative leadership, artistic excellence, and professional experience to this new role.

As Interim Dean, Reese remains deeply committed to the success of our students and to advancing the Conservatory's tradition of excellence while leading the program into an exciting new year.

Maestro Guillermo Figueroa recently reunited with Lynn Conservatory alumni Hugo Valverde (BM ’16) and Parker Lee (PPC ’15 and former adjunct faculty member) following their June performance at Carnegie Hall with The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Reflecting on the occasion, Figueroa shared, “I was privileged to attend the wonderful performance and very proud to see Lynn so well represented.” Lee serves as the orchestra’s Principal Timpanist, while Valverde holds the position of Second Horn.

Congratulations to our Professor of Piano, Dr. Roberta Rust, on the upcoming release of her new album, FEMALE RAIN: Indigenous American Piano Music. The album features solo piano works by Connor Chee (Navajo) and Louis W. Ballard (Quapaw/Cherokee), and it will be available on the Navona label from PARMA Recordings beginning July 10 on Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, and Tidal.

Composition student Miguelangel Garcia Marquez (BM '25, MM '27) spent part of his summer as an audio engineering apprentice at the National Music Festival in Chestertown, Maryland. He had the opportunity to work closely with Grammy-nominated recording engineer Kevin Bourassa, together recording multiple of the festival's chamber groups and orchestras. 🎤
