Okay, I need to know if anyone else has heard about this, or if this mom at the beach was just trying to spook me. 🫣 waves
​I snapped this shot of the island on Mosquito Lake today while out on my route because I couldn't stop thinking about a conversation I had over the weekend. I was sitting by the water watching my kids play, and this other mom started telling me this incredibly creepy ghost story about a girl who allegedly died out on that island back in the early 1900s.
​She told me people swear she’s still out there, but she doesn't ever show herself until July. The legend is that she’s down there endlessly looking for a priceless family heirloom necklace she lost that day. Sometimes she’s standing out on the rocks holding an old lantern, scanning the stones. Sometimes you don't even see the light, you just see her face staring back at you through the mist, and people have even seen her floating right in the water near the shoreline trying to look through the waves for it.
​It completely gave me chills. Has ANYBODY around here actually heard of the Mosquito Lake ghost girl, or does anyone know any more details about what happened to her family's heirloom? Drop it in the comments if you know the story!! 👇👇
