SCENE STUDY FOR ACTORS
Announces open registration for March 17th - May 5th.
Email: [email protected]
Class size limited to 8 actors.

This studio class is designed to increase the actor’s understanding of physical expressiveness, psychological expression and concentration. Physically-based approaches such as Stanislavski, Michael Chekhov and Meyerhold will be some of the actor-training methodologies used. Through various exercises, assignments, and assigned scene work, and classical monologues, the actor will explore our three main areas of focus: how to “just be” onstage, how to play an action, and the journey to unfolding a character.

When: Sundays from 6:00-9:00pm, March 17th through May 5th.
Where: State College Community Theatre at 171 Technology Drive, Suite 800, Boalsburg, PA 16827
Cost: $135, fee includes the script for your specially assigned scene and monologue.
Instructor Susan Riddiford Shedd is a professional actor who has appeared locally, regionally and on Broadway at The Saint James and Lunt Fontanne Theatres. Other theatres include: The Golden Gate Theatre in San Francisco, Portland Repertory Theatre, Seattle Repertory Theatre, The Bathhouse, New City, and Empty Space Theatres in Seattle and the Wisconsin Shakespeare Festival and Seattle Shakespeare Festival to name a few. Locally she has been seen in Harper Reagan, A Moon for the Misbegotten, A Streetcar Named Desire and Educating Rita to name a few. She has been an actor almost her whole life. She received her BA in theatre from Penn State where she was a member of Helen Manfull’s famed Theatre 100 Company. She received her MFA with the Professional Actor Training Program at The University of Washington under Jack Clay. Consequently, she was offered a fellowship from Daniel Sullivan and Douglas Hughes who were then artistic directors of The Seattle Repertory Theatre. Susan has also studied with Mark Jenkins in Seattle and with Herbert Bergof at his HB Studios in NYC. She is a founding member of The Seattle Shakespeare Company now in its 24th season and is the founder and co-artistic director of The Nittany Valley Shakespeare Company.

Hey everyone -- not that "up to three inches' of snow can hold ME back -- but how and when it is to come down I think is a safety issue. Combine that with a few other reasons, and I say let's just find another night for this session during our next class --ok? Please let me know you have seen this!

01/27/2014

Great class! Don't forget your 3-5 "Being" assignment for next class ( PM me if you have questions!) Also -- let me know who wants to go to The State to see National Theatre Live this Thursday so we can snag a group rate!

Great class! Am excited about you guys and all of your experience! Still think it should be four......;)
